lookin to be 2-0, harris can do a good job guarding the not so healthy Davis, and the return of the sloppy and slow dog-housed Marcus Williams...

Davis = Clippers

Marcus = DNP

I think we'll see Sean Williams in this game and a little less of Anderson. Winnable game since they're playing without a natural PG. I think I saw Stephen jackson running the point in GS's last game..

Very winable GS isn't all that great of a team just like Washington was .

Btw. I kinda wonder why they traded for Marcus if he's just some sort of Waterboy for them now :) .
Hopefully we'll a late lottery pick out of it and not just 2 2nd rounders ~

Yeah I don't understand what Golden State is doing with Marcus Williams either, he has his shortcomings but come on... Then again Golden State management is pretty f'ed up, why the hell they blew all that money on Maggette is beyond me...

This is not the same GSW team as last season. Davis has gone to the Clippers.

slick game thread...

nellie ball is always fun. will give our guys a good work out.

let's see if lopez keep up with the pace.

Harris is our fastest and high energy player, and will have to keep the other amped up.

Keep the turnovers down. Get those rebounds!

Happy Halloween.

Go NETS!!!!

This will be an entertaining Game. It's a winnable game and I think that Carter will have a big gam,he usually does with the Warriors.

AWSOME GAMETHREAD page, , minus the chatter lol...well I watched the game late off the HDDVR...

Here's the list of positives in order:
#1--Yi...you cannot aske for anything more than what you saw in game 1...scoring, no hesitation w. the shot, confidence looked through the roof...He rebounded as well as expected, on top of his blocked shot from behind...

#2--VINCE baby...does he look comfortable with this new team or what...took his time with offense, moved the ball and then asked for the ball...very excited about how he let others get involved first, before taking the game over...dont sleep, Vince is getting out the gate on the right foot...

#3--Lopez...if this is how he looks in his NBA debut, we have a lot to looked forward...and he will be in the starting lineup, in the very near future...big inside the paint, a presence to make shooters adjust shots, looks pretty comfortable in the post...need to get him more plays...8, 8, 2...

#4--Jarvis Hayes---what I call a big time filler...I used to hate when he would make those corner jumpers vs the Nets with the clock expiring...always makes difficult shots...very happy with his strong game...

#5--Dooling...definitely up to the task of backup PG...all around, had a nice game...my confidence him just increased...hopefully he keeps it up...

#6--Anderson...nice shot, looked confident shooting despite only making one...but you have to be please to him be aggressive on the def end and espeically on the boards and closing out shooters and dribble drives...

NOW THE NEGATIVES:

#1 Devin Harris was horrible...he picked his game up making a couple of shots later in the game and 4th...but he looked pretty shaky through about 3 qtrs...not the player the Nets needs if we're gonna make a push for the playoffs...under-produced and was not the floor leader we need...

the rest...Simmons was ok...over shot, looked confident w. his shot despite missing some close...but we want him to shoot from the corners...Boone was fine for the most part, got beat on the boards some, didnt look 100%...he'll come back, maybe from the bench  ...CDR looked like a typical rook's 1st NBA game, but he is a confident baller overall...did you guys see him from the bench, looked like Nets fan of Vince, kind of a deer in headlights, like he was watching the game on his couch at home...SWILL not playing, had no problem with this, he'll get time when we need him...its great to have him at your disposal...

and finally OPIE...he gets an A+ from me playing 10 deep, real minutes, mixing up the lineups probably over 7 different ones...utilizing our strengths w. size and shooting...wasnt anxious in getting Devin back in...called to pushed the ball when we needed to off the inbound...sub Vince perfectly...overall you have to be pleased he has the confidence in our rooks and WANTS to play them...

Nets fans you have to be happy after game 1...I definitely feel confident saying this team should be better than last year...

The Warrior starters ( well the PG position not ) played some really heavy Minutes again today with around ~45 in the OT loss to Toronto . Should be an advantage for for us since they really looked tired at the end.

I personally don't get Nellis rotation and concept . Maggette , Jackson , Biendrins and Harrington might be dieng on the court around All-Star Break with the minutes he's playing them.

Well my other team the Raps pulled out a victory last night vs the Warriors by dominating on defense (great D by Anthony Parker in particular) in OVERTIME. Frankly the Warriors were in control in the last minutes of the 4th quarter but lost the lead by settling for ill-advised jumpshots down the stretch.

Nelson plays a short line-up (7-9 guys) w/ heavy minutes for Jackson / Harrington / Maggette / Biedrins. Playing on the back end of a back-to-back and coming from an OT loss should be beneficial to the Nets, to bad the Nets have absolutely no fastbreak game to speak of to take advantage of tired legs.

Wizards are basically a jump shooting team with 3pt emphasis & the same can be said about the Warriors. The Warriors do have a nice inside defensive presence in Turiaf & Biedrins. Nelson doesn't have a great bench so he will overwork his starters again. His only bench guy is pretty much Azubuike who can be a handful.

It seems Warriors main play in posting up their SG / SF in the low post (Maggette / Harrington / Jackson) and then playing off of that depending on the defensive scheme. Nets of course have the no paint rule so it will be important for them to rotate and jump out on the perimeter shooters after they collapse on post defense. Jackson & Harrington can get hot out there but at the same time they can also get cold so if Warriors jump out to a big lead it's never safe and vice-versa a big lead vs Warriors isn't safe either since they play a faster pace & like the 3pt shot.

Nets shouldn't have to worry about the Warriors bigs too muchas Turiaf is only dangerous off the offensive rebounds but not post offense. Biedrins can be a handful if you get him going but hack-a-biedrins can be applied since he is a poor & ugly FT shooter.

Maggette is like an offensive mirror image of RJ (I think RJ has a better fastbreak feel & is slightly more explosive). They have the same strengths & weaknesses & even body type.

I noticed in the Raptors game that the Warriors guards don't fight very hard over screens and they are quick to switch which should leave Nets with alot of mismatches. I don't know if this is Nelson's D scheme to switch early or just laziness from the guards but it is an opportunity for the Nets.

It will be interesting to see if Marcus gets some burn vs his former team. PG position being the only one where Nelson hasn't played heavy minutes so maybe Marcus doesn't get burn again...

Also watching the Raps, Bargnani & Yi have rather similar games. Bargs was outstanding last night. They both are tall, lean, athletic (Yi slightly more perhaps) big men that can shoot lights out (Bargs with slightly better range) who still have very raw post games but are athletic enough to put the ball on the floor & also are decent passers for their position. Yi will have his hands full guarding Harrington.

Let's see if Nets can get some easy (fast break) points today - not sure how but...and Nets are basically a jumpshooting team so let's see if they continue to hit their shots and create open shots through their offensive schemes and if not, will they have another good defensive effort....this is a winnable game and consider it's their home opener. Hopefully homecrowd will be decent & provide some energy for their team.

yea jac,u basically summed it up, i wanted to see CDR more, the only reason we sucked last year was all the Jason Kidd drama, and the transition from kidd to harris...
