Sean Willams: Should I stay or should I go?

His (Sean) nameplate and the heavy plank of oak that it's glued on was leaning against the wall after Wednesday's game, apparently pulled off the frame of his locker.
"I didn't see how it happened," locker neighbor Trenton Hassell said, "but it takes a strong man to do that."

Let him play...he can only improve and progress during NBA games...I'm disgusted how we're holding back such a raw talent...We're not even attempting to clear away the rough edges...my hopes are up with minutes played vs. Pacers...

I'm still all for him being a part of our future, but the guy needs to show them that he wants to be here. Asking us to decline his option so he can get a new deal sounds more like "I want out of here because I Don't want to compete with Yi, Brook, Josh and Ryan for playing time for the next few years" instead of "I want you guys to lock me up long term now. That way I get more money now than my rookie deal yet you save money over the long haul since my deal won't be that much (see: Blatches deal)." I just don't think he wants to be here anymore. If I'm a GM and someone didn't want to be on the team, I'd gladly send them out of town to the highest bidder and make him some other teams problem.

He should be a part of this organization. His skill set is something no other person on this team has, not even Swift. His timing is extraordinary on blocked shots, his athleticism is probably one of the best in the NBA. He needs to be able to play through his mistakes and not keep looking over his shoulder to see when he'll be pulled. Keep SWAT, fire Frank!

I agree with firing Frank.
For Sean, it's not like he's getting benched and we're playing like Mark Blount over him though. This is the main problem with having A LOT of extremely young front court talent. Finding time for everyone becomes almost impossible. So what does a coach normally do then? Play the guys that want it the most. From what I've seen/read/interpreted over the last 2 weeks, I can see why he's at the bottom of the depth chart. Don't get me wrong, if he wants to be here and play hard and fight to win and make the most of his time here, I am all for having him in this franchise for a long time. I just haven't seen it. People either sink or swim when they're faced with the adversity he's going through. Right now he's starting to dip below the surface and if that's what he is going to do, I'm more than willing to let another team throw him a life preserver if they make a good offer for him.

I see Frank being the #1 issue when it comes to Sean Williams...end of story!

to me it looks like he's dying to get some run...when he got on the floor vs the Pacers, it was like uleashing a caged dog, with his aggresiveness...no one could touch his energy and drive...

Which could turn around to haunt him. Yes, on the defensive end of the floor - that energy is needed. When it turns into turnovers and ill-advised shots on the offensive end, is where it will hurt him. Needs to keep his emotions in check; and play his game. With all that being said, you can't blame him (Williams) ... He deserves at least 10 minutes a night just because of what he brings that no one else can provide.

I agree a 100% in regards to how that can affect his offense...but on the flip side, its almost like he cant control himself, he doesnt know how to...yet...his composure on the off. end is something he needs to learn w. minutes...game time...I agree he can be overly excited or too aggressive, but I believe its because he wants to help this to team that bad...or knows he can, when watching Najera/Hassel on floor from the bench...

Quote from Frank "I liked the energy Williams brought to the game against the Pacers" will see if that is all BS or not tonight against the Hawks. He better get 15 min+ tonight. Let him back up Yi enough of Najara it's disgusting.

Trade boone and keep sean if you ask me. Why is Boone so safe in his starting spot even when he plays like trash, when we have so many bigs looking for time out there? I would've pulled him in the first quarter against indiana the way he was playing so soft.I think frank fell in love again but its not jason collins this time now its boone.Don't get me wrong i like boone but when he's not playing well give someone else the nod like brook or sean thats why we have so many bigs.

As much as It sounds like I'm knocking Sean here, I'm 100% fine with trading Boone to keep him and get him time. I think one of them have to go. I know it's early in the season but one of them gotta move out. The only problem is that when you look at them, disregarding potential and so forth, Sean is digruntled so you would assume it's the reason why he's possibly on his way out of town. I'm just intrigued on how the next 2 years for the Nets unfold.

how bout we stop stop putting Najera on the floor and replace him with Williams. If Williams is traded away from this team ill be sadder then the Jason Kidd trade

I dont think you're knocking him...you just have a different angle on the situation...which is obviously fine...

No Boone tonight according to NJ.com.
Nothing against Boone, but...
Woo hoo!
Frank has to play Swat. Well sort of. Anderson hasn't been getting much burn either.
We could see an unhealthy dose of Najera tonight, mixed with 1 part Ryan Anderson and a pinch of Sean Williams.

I dont think the Nets Organization's removal procedure of a nameplate includes the heavy plank of oak that it's glued onto...

It seems like Sean felt like that was his chance to earn more minutes and he didn't take advantage of it. He's probably mad about the missed shots (I was just happy he was willing to shoot them).
I've said before that it is idiotic to keep him on the bench. At worst (on a game to game basis, not talking long term potential) he can provide great energy and spark when the team needs it. At best he can be a dominating defensive presence who is useful on offense.
I agree that Boone needs to be traded. He has no upside IMO. He's a nice player and all, but he is holding back the other young big guys. Furthermore, his contract ends before the 2010 offseason which means that even if we would like to resign, him it would be at the cost free agency money. There has been numerous times where he forgets to box out his man. He's been outrebounded by a second year PF who many were calling soft last year. He has played bad this year both offensively and defensively and yet he still gets playing time. I don't get it.
