The Official Brook Lopez thread...

Last 3 games played:
The breakout game, 11/14 vs Atl:
25pts 11-17fgs 3-4fts 9 rebs 2 asts 2stls 4blks

MIA in Atl ??? 11/15:
with only 3 fgs attempted in 28min, Brook ended up with 5pts & 7 rebs 3 blks, still making an impact on the defensive end and on the glass...gotta wonder why he didnt receive more touches, though it was obvious Atl was more aware of fronting/guarding Lopez...

First Double-Double, 11/18 vs Cleveland:
15pts 6-13fgs 3-3fts 13rebs 1stl in 33min played before fouling...You could see the rookie's aggressiveness with LBJ on the court, knocking him to the ground on one play in an attempted block shot...you have to admit, its great to see a rookie show up in a game like this and pull out a double-double vs the likes of Z, Big Ben and Varejo...but should we come to expect a performance like this?

Should Brook retain the starting role at Center for the Nets?

yahoo's team report:
C Brook Lopez recorded the first double-double of his career

when he scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against Cleveland

Tuesday before fouling out. The achievement was of little solace to

Lopez, as the Nets lost by 24. “I would sacrifice that double-double

for a win any day,” Lopez said.

Josh Boone is hobbled by a left ankle bone bruise. He sat his

third straight game Tuesday and it is uncertain when he’ll be back as

he remains “in a lot of pain,” according to coach Lawrence Frank.

As mentioned before, this kid is a born starter and plays better when starting...with out any doubt, Brook Lopez should be the Nets starting center...

I agree, Brook is our best center, healthy or not, and should be starting. He's got a solid offensive game, seems to crash the boards harder when he's starting and his defense is coming along pretty nicely.

I am even leaning to having the ball go through him too.

Yeah VC is the best player on the court and Harris is showing what he can do, but having a low post threat opens up the court for our shooters. Even Yi is going to improve with the offense starting with Lopez. So far I like Lopez' passing vision in the post. It does need some improvement, but this is the way to go. This is kinda like what the Raptors had to decide with Bosh and VC. Though Bosh maybe better then Lopez, the nets should change the offensive philosophy.

That dribble drive can work too but I would prefer it be as a second or third offensive play option.

yeah i dont see how this is even a question with frank. The only explanation is that he is a rookie and he's mindlessly going with the rookie automatically off the bench formula. That and he doesn't want to hurt boone's feelings because apparently, boone's a sensitive one.

Brook is just the more natural center because of his size. He's better on offense, defense and he just makes a bigger impact on the game.I'm glad boone got hurt because it forced frank to play brook and now hopefully he can see boone would be better off the bench.

i love Josh Boone, but i think its time to hand the keys to Brook, he is just too dominant, that being said you will probably see trenton assel as pf and swift at C...

JJ, I said during our live draft that I see a little Tim Duncan in Brook. After watching him more and more this season, do you see the same thing?

I voted for Brook also... now the Nets need to decide whether they want to keep playing Yi at PF or go with a better defensive player like Swift or Williams. If Brook is gonna receive a heavy dose of touches Yi might be more effective off the bench with a bigger role in the offense with the reserves.

It should actually open it up for Yi.

I also see the similiarities, but of course, Duncan is much more talented.

This is why I would prefer the offense goes through him now soe he can get used to it.

definitely...

he has such a nice touch...baby hook, or floater at the rim...good at pivoting in the post and going over either shoulder w. a shot, ala Duncan...I have to admit, didnt watch much of him in college, but his confidence is ridiculous for a rookie...

name the last nets center you liked better...Todd...lol...Deke...JW during his allstar year, Seikley...or any of the undersized fillers...I mean come on...Brook vs Oden...hype it up...should be better than KVH vs. Tim...which was a joke...

I can't believe you've forgotten already JJ. I was the resident Nenad Krstic hype-machine here. I actually thought about looking him up and posting "The Official Nenad Krstic Watch" thread for old time's sake.

yes sirrrrrr...maybe he'll continue to mature, heal and develop a set...he just became weak mentally on the court, it was that obvious...too bad his injury added to that, because he was on really good road as far as development...

I dunno, it hasnt been that long, but I never really thought of him as a center...PF yes, off the bench filler at center, yeh...but starting center was a push for him...I like Boone better at C w./ him sliding over to PF...at least on the defensive side...but I guess you have to call him PF/C...

bring back Jamie Feick...sp.. ...
