Denver Intersted in S Will?

Post#1 » by Rockice_8 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 3:40 pm

Denver is looking for size and shot blocking and are intersted in Sean. They are dangling Kleiza but his contract is up and I'm not sure what kind of contract he would be looking for? If he is looking for the mid-level, we are not in the position to to offer that to him, and we lost SWAT for nothing. But I was thinking what if we did it for Balkman. I think he would be a good fit for our SF spot. We need a guy who can lock down the opposing teams best wing player. We have plenty of scorers/shooters.

Balkman for Swat straight up

Thoughts?

Simmons, Hayes, Anderson, Hassell, and Najera.

I think we have enough 3s. Outside of Hayes and Najera, they aren't too good at any other position.

I have no interest in Balkman. I enjoy his aggresiveness but he isn't the "young player" SF that would interest me.

Hey question because I can't find it, what does JR Smith's contract look like? I thought he signed a new deal this offseason.

Simmons not that good and is going to be gone next year
Hayes is solid
Anderson is too slow to defend the three
Hassell nothing special
Najara shouldn't even put a uniform on anymore

Balkman is a younger more athletic verison of Hassell.

Were not going to get anything great in return for Williams because he might be the dumbest B-ball player in the league. For someone with that much upside he really makes no impact on the floor unless he is fouling someone. Balkman is a better defender and can guard the 2, 3, or 4, freeing up Yi or Carter from getting into foul trouble I think this trade makes a ton of sense.

I think you're overestimating Balkman's impact. He's a solid energy guy off the bench, but he'll never be more than that. I'm not really interested in moving Sean for him. Balkman is talented and you could make a decent make an argument that we can't get anyone better for him, but I'd rather get a true 2 or 3 for him. Balkman's jumper is almost nonexistant. I wouldn't be pissed if Balkman was all we got for Sean, but if I were Thorn and Kiki, I'd definitely exhaust all other possibilities before I took this deal.

Which guy do you think Frank's going to play more? 8-)

Balkman is a younger more athletic verison of Hassell.

To me, he's just a guy that gets buy on hustle and hard work. Not much on the talent department.

Josh Howard's making a late break.

I just don't think he brings anything new to the team. Sure, he's a slightly above average defender, but it's not like he's a defensive stopper. The guy can't really shoot and makes some silly mistakes on both ends of the floor. It's not enough for someone like Frank to play over the vets. Plus it takes time away from Anderson. Is he slow. A bit, but he's not going to guard the big 4s or faster 2s of the league. He's a 3.

Guy's I'm not for one second gonna pretend I know what denver want or are planning to do. But I have a trade proposal for you all. You can trash it all you like but here goes. (it works on trade checker)

NJN Incoming
K-Mart
Chucky Atkins

DN Incoming
S-WILL
Swift
Simmons

Is it too Homerish? Denver would save money off Kmart's deal. Maybe I'm just an old softy for him, but i would love to see Kmart back in his number six uni. Would Atkins be a capable back up?
Swift would be gone at seasons end. Simmons has one year left (after this one) I hate to see Swill go but rumour has it he has a builder coming in to do some renovations on Franks dog house. So it looks like he is settling in there.
Thoughts?

First off Balkman is only a role player he would never become a starter. I only see him in his prime a trevor ariza type of player. Second, do wwe seriously need another project we already have to work on Brook Yi, Anderson, CDR, Boone and Even if we get another another prospect I would get a shooting guard, we need a replacement for Carter in the future.

As for aussienet I would love to get Kmart back in our team I still believe he is the type of player that is missing on the nets that would make us win. However, the problem is his contract. He has 2 years left and a player option. Plus he would never decline his player option in order to make the team better.

We love Kenyon, but we didn't want his contract when we were contending, we don't want it now that we're on a rebuilding process.

Oh My bad. i didn't realise he had a player option. I thought he would be a FA. and come off the cap in 2010. But still doesn't a line up of this excite you just a little?

Harris
VC (if not already traded)
Hayes
Kmart
Lopez

2nd unit
Atkins
CDR
Anderson
Yi
Boone

with ager,hassell and dooling.
Plus we got draft picks.
We should have (and i trust Mr Thorn will) have a plan b in case we miss out on the FA sweepstakes. Like a lot of you guy's say we don't wanna over pay for second tier talent in this case we don't but we would be highly competitive.

Kenyon unfortunately never developed into the "game changer" due to his knees. As much as I am still a big fan of him, I don't want him on the Nets unless he got bought out and took the Vet min with us. I'd rather miss out on all big free agents in 2010 than not even have a chance because we took on Kenyon's contract.

Fair Call. I have to agree with you.

But what if VC was traded for a young prospect? and we draft this Hamden kid everyone is raving about?

You mean James Harden? the kid I want more than life itself? He's awesome.

I'd probably say no though still to Kenyon. I love the guy, maybe next year when we understand our roster better I'd change my mind, but to me, the K-mart Kruiseline has set sail and won't be returning to port in Jersey again.
