Nets decline quick. This move doesn't make us a contender. It cuts big into our 2010 cap space. Only way nets do that is if we make a move that puts us in "win now" mode without giving up a lot of young talent. If we did this deal, we'd have to move Carter or Shane (don't get my wrong, I love Shane Battier) before next seasons deadline to free up the cap room again. It's not worth the time and effort to do that. Net's decline.

On the flipside, why would Houston even contemplate this?

we wouldn't. as far as I'm concerned battier is a cornerstone for us. good shooter, good defense, hustles, plays smart, and has heart. and would we wan't swift back?

Haha that is why so many people love him. It's funny how much I wanted him to walk into oncoming traffic in college, now I would love to have him on my team
