Deadline Trades

This thread can be used to discuss deadline deals that may transpire and comment on or trade suggestions that you would like to see happen for our team.
Was messing around with trade checker and thought of 2 deals I wouldn't mind us making.
-NJ-MIA Trade-
Haslem/Quinn (Bird Rights) for Swift/Boone/Ager
I like Haslem, I think he would compliment Lopez great. A banger who is physical, can hit the 15-18ft jumpshot, hustles and rebounds well. Quinn gives us a 3rd PG, if he's willing to waive his bird rights. We lose Boone in this deal, which some won't like, but we get someone better in Haslem and do a 3-for-2 swap.
OR
-NJ-IND Trade-
Murphy/Tinsley for Simmons/Swift
My thinking with this trade is 3rd PG, someone who needs to resurrect his career. We take on some contracts that aren't pretty; but from a roster standpoint it makes sense. As I said, obtain a 3rd PG - who could turn out to be a high reward player. Murphy is someone similar to Yi and Anderson that can hit the 20 foot jumpshot consistently and is an above-average rebounder. I like this deal because we're getting rid of Simmons and allowing Anderson/Hayes to start at SF for us.
Thoughts on these ideas? Post some of your deadline deals you'd like to see happen for us. Or discuss other teams deals in this thread, when they happen.

I will juggle toasters in a tub if we ever did the 2nd trade.
I like the 1st trade but I don't see a snow cone chance in H E double hockey sticks why Miami entertains that idea.

I would do the first trade only if we were to trade someone like Yi for T-mac just to go for it all haha

Yi for TMac would make us worse if we did the other trade. TMac would be hobbled all season long and even though a lot of you love on Haslem, I don't like him one bit.
Personally I wouldn't do either. I make fun of Quinn more than any other player in the NBA. I cannot stand him. I don't like Haslem. I love Troy Murphy but we have Ryan Anderson who is similar and I don't want Tinsley. Not saying Anderson is as good as murphy but it makes 2 spots on our roster redundant and pointless to me.
Only thing I'd be willing to do is a deal for a back up PG (lowry or conley) or packages Swift/Sean for a starting quality Small Forward who doesn't hurt 2010.

None of those trades look interesting.
I hope we dont miss out on any good 10 day contracts because no one wants Swift and Ager only to waive them after the trade deadline.
I still say Portland is the perfect trading partner especially if Memphis screws them.

We don't need to make any small pointless deals that make us just a little better. If u want a 3rd pg then cut ager and sign Gill. As for deals and I;m not saying that we need to do this only if we get picks and/or a good young SG or SF is to trade VC. When Harris was down we saw a glimpse of Yi lets see if he can with stand that. There is no reason why we can't get something similar for VC that we got for Kidd.
Dump VC and lets see if what we think is the future really is
Harris
Yi
Lopez

I'd consider the first only because it sets Boone free.

The first would be a nice trade for us but I don't see why Miami considers it. They need a C but Haslem is significantly better than Boone.

I' like both...the Miami trade is obviously better, but I dont see the Heat doing it...Simmons has been playing better lately, especially his shot...but Troy is bigger and can do more for this team in a starting role than Simmons does, despite some injuries and Indiana probably has logjam when healthy...good PF, borderline sf, though I think Troy has lost some lateral movement...I know most wouldnt be interested in Brook/Yi/Troy...
I do think Portland is good team to trade with and Memphis does have a couple pgs...still have to dont know my in

What kind of trades do you guys see happening between the Nets and Blazers?

The Nets and Bulls are discussing a 2-for-1 deal that would send Bobby Simmons and Maurice Ager to Chicago for the much-traveled Larry Hughes, Al Iannazzone reports. Hughes, a defensive-oriented guard with a big contract, is seen as surplus by the Bulls who have several point guards. The deal would also open up a roster spot for the Nets. New Jersey originally offered Sean Williams but the Bulls said no.
Thoughts? I say get it done, as long as Hughes wants to be here. We don't need a cancer in the locker room. I want more minutes for Anderson and Hayes deserves more minutes.

GET 'R DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harris
Hughes
VC
Yi
Lopez
I can live with that if he is a model citizen. If not bench, CDR, Hayes, and Anderson more PT.

sigh......
I hsve been thinking about this trade since November and it still hasn't grown on me.
It makes so much sense for Chicago it isn't funny.
They save over 3 mill in total salary and trade a cancer with delusions of granduer for a Chicago native who will sit there and get paid and make no rumblings if he gets a paltry 15-18 mpg.
The Bulls are also a team that will not think twice financially to just cut Ager if they wind up needing the roster spot.
Thorn and Kiki better know something I don't, because Hughes is normally gonna be an a-hole if he doesn't start and get at least high 20's in mpg.
He will also immediately expect to be the 3rd option behind VC and Devin.
I don't see how this benefits Lopez, CDR, Yi, Mr. Anderson or even Devin and seriously hope this is not the prequel to a VC trade for 1 of 2 reasons. 1 is, if we are trying to upgrade talent and cut a year of salary to dump VC, Hughes only accomplishes one of those, you decide which one. 2 is, if we trade VC and get a very nice young piece back, such as Rudy Fernandez, Hughes just doesn't help a guy like thats developement in my opinion.
BAH!

Just to weigh in with a Blazers fan perspective. I really don't think Rudy would be traded for an experienced vet like Vince. While Carter is still a very talented player, I think the Blazers would be looking for someone more along the lines of Devin Harris. ***I'm not saying that the Nets should trade Harris for Rudy. However, someone at that stage of their career would be the target for the Blazers.

With Vescey recently coming out and suggesting the reason the Hughes trade hasn't worked is our insistence on getting either Thomas or Noah. What about something like this?
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4944769Ager/Boone/Hassell/Simmons for Thomas/Hughes
If we're able to land Thomas, it doesn't make much sense to keep SWAT or Swift. So we do this deal before the deadline.
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4944773Swift/Anderson/Draft pick for Mike Miller. I really like Anderson, but he doesn't make much sense with Hayes and especially if we land Mike Miller.
Harris/Dooling/Hughes
VC/Hughes/CDR
Miller/Hayes/Najera
Yi/Thomas/Swat
Lopez/Thomas/Swat
Just messing with trade checker this morning, as I wake up, but it seems pretty decent (at least now, I'm not fully awake - lol)

I really don't think Miller is worth Mr. Anderson and a pick.
I like Mike Miller, always have.
But I am also honest about him.
He plays absolutley abysmal defense.
He is having a down year, whether it is misuse or not, he has also had numerous small, lingering injuries.
He is very injury prone, the only full year he has EVER played being his rookie campaign.
He is worth more than his #'s in general, but he has never put up monster stats.
Miller is a jack of all trades, master of none.
Miller has never had particularly high trade value, but I understand he could work well here and that other teams could out bid us.
That said, I am sure Minny would prefer to ship him East or at least out of division and we still can put together a beter package than a lot of teams that have interest in him, such as Cleveland and Boston.
He is a nice player on a fair contract, but for all his short comings, he is truly not worth more than an expiring, a young prospect(ala Boone, Sean or MAYBE Douglas-Roberts) and a 2nd round pick or possibly Golden States at best.
Would I be upset if Rod sent, let's say, Boone and our 09 pick heavily protected?
No, not at all, but I completely understand why he is playing hardball.

I would love to get Thomas.. for me he would be the main attraction of the deal rather than Hughes. Noah I can do without.
I'm also still a big fan of bringing Mike here but i'm not sure i'd give up a pick to make it happen.
