Nets thoughts on Mike Miller rumor

The hot rumor out of Minneapolis is Mike Miller on the move to jersey. Considering the Wolves are trying to free up more 2009 cap space and acquire more draft picks, the Nets are more of service than we thought.

What about this trade:

Nets send: Stromile Swift, Sean Williams, future 2010 or 2011 first rounder

Minny sends: Mike Miller

Could also play around with McCants or Craig Smith heading out to Jersey.

The deal gives Minny needed salary relief, and a shotblocker in Williams a future draft pick.

Nets get a shooter they covet in Miller, who isnt fitting in Minny's system.

I like Craig, but we really don't need him a whole lot. Before last draft I would have loved him though.

If we were able to land Miller/McCants for Swift/Sean/2009 1st (top 10 protected), I'd consider it a steal. i don't think Minny would bite on that though haha.

It'll most likely be a 2-1 deal or a 3-2 so we can free a roster spot. Regardless, this is just a rumor we read in a jersey paper and we don't know how reliable the source is he got it from. It makes tons of sense so it could even of been the writer just saying it in jest off the top of his head. Regardless, we'll see what happens.

I think its a fair deal for both sides. Minnesota needs a shotblocker, salary relief, and future assets. A excited as we were to see Mike, the grass seems greener in '09 free agency and Mike Miller is mentally out of whack at the moment.

How valuable is Josh Boone to your guys? Sources say the hangup is the "young player" involved. With Lopez coming on, would Boone be available in this trade?

Minny board seems to like the Boone, Swift, pick variation as opposed to my initial suggestion of Williams.

Boone is a reliable guy off the bench for us. He's good at finishing on pick-and-rolls and isn't worthless on defense. I'm assuming the hang up is that we want to give you Sean or Ager (Ager is an expiring) and my guess is you're asking for Boone or Ryan Anderson. I still think Swift/Boone/Pick is fair value for Mike Miller, but you know our management tries to lowball the hell out of everyone.

If we didn't give up Simmons and landed Miller, we'd have some serious cap space in 2010 too. I don't think enough to land 2 max contracts, but definitely enough to add 1 max player and 1 above average starter (or 2 above average rotation guys).

Throw in Olie, add Ager, and change pick to either GS or 2011/2012 lottery protected pick, we got a deal.

Dont want Smith or McCants.

I wouldnt want to lose SWill but he isnt going to play as long as Frank is here.

I love this trade.. I honestly think that Miller is the Kittles we've been missing for years. The thought of Harris and VC slashing while kicking it out to a sharp-shooting Miller has me excited for the next 2 seasons while we wait for our big year!

that solves our kerry kittles problem, but to really make noise and fast we need to get a kenyon martin type player.

A variation that I don't think will go through added Ollie but also CDR as opposed to Ager.

This is probably asking for too much, but throwing out the thoughts.

Deal would be

Miller + Ollie for Swift, Boone, CDR, (not sure if the 2010 or later or GS pick was still included)

yea your getting a little carried away now.. you might be able to get CDR if it was SWill or Ager instead of Boone but even that is a stretch.

Sorry buddy.

Miller + Ollie for Swift, SWill, Ager and GS pick is enough. As much as I dont want to give u SWill that is all you will get. LOL

Hey, I admitted the CDR thing wasn't likely and closer to a pipedream. I just wasn't sure what was valued more in NJ, the player or the pick.

I still don't think Williams will make it work and Boone would be necessary. Regardless, it is interesting and I would like to see something happen. MN could use a solid rotational big that can play the 5.

For Miller I do a Swift and Ager combo with either Sean Williams and the GS pick or Boone and no pick.

Anything more and we're stepping into Caron Butler territory, so no thanks.

I wonder if Danny Ainge sent McHale a championship ring to add to his collection.

I'm almost positive McHale isn't the GM or Vice-President of Basketball Operations anymore. He's just the coach now.

The guy I would still love us to go after is Salmons, but I don't know what Sacto would be looking for.

Sacto will be extremely stingy with Salmons. They'll probably ask for a nice amount on top of demanding we take one of their many bad contracts. That's the only problem I see. Of the rumors floating around right now involving the Nets, I think Mike Miller is clearly the best choice. Until other names pop up, I'm not even really going to overanalyze any other player.
