I say we convince Suns to...

Though I am all for the youth movement and as hard sell to swallow, In my SIC head, I think this makes us better.
I say we trade:
Simmons, Swift, Hassel/Najera, Ager for Shaq. I think boone or Swill would have to be included. I wouldnt mind taking Grant Hill as a filler.
The Suns havent been the same since Shaq got there. Nash isnt happy. Amare is confused. They can get back to the run-n-gun while adding some players that play some D.
For the Nets, Shaq would give us the leadership we need. He would take Lopez under his wings. Shaq wouldnt mind either especially since he has some businesses in NJ. He is also for the move to Newark if brooklyn doesnt happen.
StartersDooling, Harris, VC, Lopez, Shaq
BenchDooling, Hill, Hayes, Anderson, CDR, Swill/Boone, Najera/Hassel, 3rd PG, 2 more open spots
Frank would be forced to change his damn OFFENSE. Harris would have to learn to be a PG because Shaq would demand the ball in the post.

I caught heat for pushing for him last year from most of you. Regardless, I still think he's got a few years left in him. I don't think PHX deals him though..

Part of the problem was that a year ago, the only way a Shaq trade worked under the cap with if Jefferson or Carter was dealt.
Either way, not a chance the Suns take this offer.

If Shaq wants to buy the team and move them to Newark in 2010 when his contract is up and then be a player/owner for the vet minimum, then that's the only way I'd be willing to have him here. I used to hate Shaq but over the years I've grown to enjoy him, but it's not realistic to bring him here now.

You know, I had a great idea like this when i was younger too. It was a "jump to conclusions" mat. You see there would be this mat, and written on it would be "conclusions" you could "jump to"..........

Yeah he probably would, but Steve Nash will bitch slap him first. Then Amare. Then Barbosa.
Then they will all turn to Porter and give him a Three Stooges slap then they will all do the Curly Shuffle.

I also had an idea for a mat. Written on it would be "Smart Asses" and I would walk all over it.

What would be the point of adding Shaq?

I'd want to see Thorn and Kiki's look on their faces when Shaq is standing in front of them demanding that the Nets move to Newark.

There are many
1- For the same reason why people say we should keep VC around to help the young guys. Shaq would be that 4 RINGS more. He already has been giving Lopez advice.
2- A real leader.
3- Force Frank to change offense.
4- Help Harris be a better, healthier PG
5- Make us a contender in the East
6- Comes off the books in 2010
7- Even though this deal would have be tweaked, we aren't losing much
8- I was bored
9- He has a business here So he wont bitch and complain.
10- He would be good for getting us to Newark since he is already spoke about it.

Yeah, I know. RJ was dealt anyway, and we'd be much better off with Shaq than Simmons/Yi - but that's my personal opinion. I think it's safe to say that Miami would be better off with RJ than Marion, too.

Heat would never have traded Shaq for RJ. I can't see them wanting RJ or his contract. Marion had value. Phoenix didn't have to give anything important up with Marion. If they sent Shaq to Jersey we sould have had to send a decent young guy, or a few picks along with a garbage player to make up the difference in contracts. I also don't think RJ and Wade could co-exist. RJ is basically the equivalent to Corey Maggette now in my eyes. I loved his time here, but he's selfish now.

I'm starting to think a trade for Shaq might have some legs to it.
I still highly doubt it.
But....
If Kerr does decide to move him, I wonder what it realistically would take to get him?
Simmons, expirings, Boone, Sean Williams and a couple 2nd rounders? A 1st?
That's probably WAY too low ball.
Even though he is old, on a gargantuate contract and sits out games to preserve him, he is in great shape again and is playing out of his mind.
If you could find a way to get Shaq and a legit 2 guard or SF without giving up VC, Devin, Lopez , Dooling, Hayes and get back one overpaid or underachieing back up big, you literally turn this team into a flatout legit contender over night and still don't truly mortgage the future.
One problem I see is you pretty much have to bring Lopez off the bench after this trade.
He is just too slow to guard power forwards night in and night out.
This is still a pipe dream trade, but you never know.
