Officiating

Post#1 » by 60cent » Fri Feb 6, 2009 5:19 pm

I just got a chance to watch the Nets vs Wizards game last night from my DVR and i noticed a few things that i believe is very detrimental to the growth of our young players esp. Anderson. I've seen the officials called traveling on Anderson many times on different games and by using one of the great innovations this century, DVR, i was able to rewind the calls and played it slow motion and believe me, these are blown calls. One example, the game against the Wizards, where Harris faked on the top of their court behind the line and moved up a bit, scrambling, looking to pass the ball and found Anderson open under the basket. Harris then passed the ball to him, Anderson caught the ball, faked because McGee was there, and took one step dribbled the ball once and layed the ball up behind the basket while McGee and Pecherov tried to block the ball but still Anderson made the basket. The Ref whilsted for a traveling call on Anderson right after he faked and before he dribbled the ball. This was a very frustrating call, i can just imagine myself getting calls like that and believe me, it happened to me and i went off, lost my cool and i was ejected  I know it's human error, it happens but this calls happen to him all the time. I've been really paying attention to Andersons' game because we somewhat have a similar type of game and i'm really starting to like this guy more than i like the other guys on this team. Im a BIG fan of his game already. He can shoot and he can embarrass some of the top PF's with his skills down low, he's very crafty (like me), very smart (like me :D ) and he has a HIGH BBIQ (like me  ). Im hoping that he wouldn't be included in any package if we ever pull a trade before the deadline. I would like to see him grow here with us, become consistent and maybe, become a star.

On a side note, sorry to step on Boone lovers here but what the hell's this guy doing here playing in the NBA? He can't shoot, can't rebound and he can't play defense! This guy is a joke! And one thing that really gets me though when he make mistakes is his body language, it kills me when he does that crybaby face like he was really jacked by the officials. I haven't been bashing on Frank for a while now because i thought he's gotten better but why is he playing Boone more than SWill? SWill can change the game by blocking a few shots and changing many shots that could've been easy baskets. I know he does get beat sometimes but it's not like Boone is a lot better, maybe advice him from time to time and let other players that are actually in the game help him sometimes would turn his game around. Nobody's asking for a big offensive production for both Boone and SWill but if i have to choose and ask one of them to score a little bit it would be SWill, he has a decent shot and at least he can dribble and penetrate the basket.

I just think it's a big mistake whatever it is they're doing about SWill. This guy should be playing consistent minutes by now and shouldn't be on a trading block. I'm not saying that he might become a star someday with another team but he would've been that Josh Smith-less offense-less strength guy on our team, a guy that would've been enough to help us on defense with maybe 10-15 minutes a game. What a waste!

this has been my solution to fixing the officiating in the NBA for quite some time. get a bunch of homeless people who know nothing about the NBA and teach them the rules. fire all the refs and hire the homeless people. now when brook lopez is guarding tim duncan he wont get called for breathing too hard on timmy. nor will the celtics get every single call when paul pierce snaps his head back like a little b***h and the entire arena starts to complain. and theres a bonus to this solution, not only does this fix the biased officiating but it helps some people earn a living.

Hey 6o, that was one of the most intelligent posts I have read on this board for some time. (except the bits about you lol) Anyways I feel that Anderson is gettin those calls cos he is a rookie. The league has cracked down on travelling and the little guy's (ie guy's who are not stars) are wearing it.
Kobe did get called for a travelling violation in the dying secs of a game against Spurs recently and he looked at the ref as if to say dude i've been doin this S**T all my life and now your gonna call it?

When ever imports come over to our JOKE of a league (By joke I mean the way it is run not talent. Heck our guy's who run this league are so useless they couldn't organise a root in a whore house, NO FOOLIN they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. They are that bad.) Anyways. Alot of the imports take a while to adjust to our refs cos they call EVERY travel.

The travelling violation has always been a joke at nba level. If you ever see the dvd Magic Johnson 'Always Showtime' I swear to god there is bit Where Magic grabs the ball just inside the half court, he has taken three steps before his first dribble, then when he does dribble he fakes a no looker, defense takes the bait the whole to the key opens up and he makes a lay up. The dude has taken six steps and dribbled twice!! In slow motion it looks ridiculous me and my mates nearly wet ourselves laughing when we see it. But hey it was MAGIC!

Sorry I'm rambling. But in short good post, and i too am looking forward to watching Ando's development and i wanna see him stay a net as well. But my intuition tells me Thorn is up to something.
Cheers

Thanks dude.

If you only get a chance to see my game, you'll probably recruit me to play down under. However, it would only be 3 on 3 half court game

There's no way i can play a full court game right now, i'll probably pass out  . If i can only stop working and just play all the time, like i used to, i'll probably have a better chance on playing professional ball in my country, but destiny brought me here with an itinerary, it's work then home, work then go home, so on and so forth...
But i shouldn't complain, God blessed me with a terrific job, a wonderful family and a pleasant living.
