From what i hear Stro is in a depression over his mom and he's not coming back.The Nets have fined him $7500 for missing practices and are taken money from his contract for 3 missed games.If he's not back Monday for the flight to Houston more penalties are coming, maybe even termination of his contract.Andy Miller his agent has tried to talk to him but Stro says he doesn't care.

Now i hear the Nets are talking to Chicago again about a possible trade of Swift for Larry Hughes and who ever else it takes to make it work.

You have any links about this. I believe you and all actually, but from what I was reading, the Nets management was allowing Stro to take all the time he needs, but were continuing to shop him because he likely wouldn't go someplace that would need/expect him to get ample playing time. I guess because of that, I'm a little surprised about the fines.

Na no links but i'm sure this will get out there soon, at least the part about the fines.I have a friend that works for his agent.

That's a shame man. I wonder how much the buyout would be for him if we can't move him. It'd give him time to be with his family and open up a roster spot for us to sign a back up PG or something. Win/Win for Stro and the team if you ask me if nothing gets done by the 19th.

Yea i guess when they said, take as much time as u need they didn't mean all season.RT and KiKi will find away to move him,I doubt they buy him out.

any idea where his family lives? why not just trade him to the city closest to his family, sort of like what derek fisher did for his daughter.

He's from Louisiana. The Derek Fisher situation was slightly different though. They terminated his contract or something (different from buying him out) to allow him to go to where they had the best doctors for his daughter.

Granted, Stro/Sean for Wright/whatever would be nice lol.

Stromile had a very close relationship with his mother.

I remember when he was in Memphis, he had been in and out of the lineup and wasn't getting along well with Hubie Brown, so Hubie Brown and Jerry West went to Louisiana to meet with Stromile and his mother, and he settled down and accepted his reserve role and helped the team become a winner.

Swift did play much better after the All-Star Break, reportedly due in no small part to a meeting between Griz management and Swift’s mother. This led to expectations that Stro would have a good season in 2003-04 as he adjusted to Hubie’s system.

I had never heard of this happening with any pro athlete before... but it did impress me that Jerry West was willing to do it, and it worked.

By the way, any mention of this at all in any of the famous New York media outlets? Or does their silence on Stromile Swift continue? I usually check the nypost and the nydailynews and they haven't mentioned him hardly at all this season to keep people informed with what's going on with him.

No offense taken man. Unless the Nets are good, we never really got too much pub in New York. The only guy who wrote about the Nets was John Hollinger and was only to make fun of us. I've sent many pleasant emails to him over the years.

The story about Stromile's mother wasn't too personal and sensitive to be reported in USAtoday

The way the players are covered in the media may have something to do with their market value and how they're perceived. Stromile has long been overlooked by media, so this is part of a larger pattern of discrimination.

We just dont care about the media.

Everyone knows we are the step child in this area. So even asking the question IMO is a waste of time. The media especially around here had us at the bottom of the Atlantic Totem Pole. Right now we are better then the Knicks and Raps. So the media is just like you and I we come here and give our opinions. The only difference is that they know people and get paid.
