Nets waive Swift-interested in Head

According to Netsdaily.com, the Nets have waived Stromile Swift and are apparently in the running to sign Luther Head to the minimum deal. Head would be a very nice addition to the team because we desperately need scoring off our bench. I really feel bad for Stro. A team could possibly sign him for a playoff push but IMO I don't think he's playing anymore basketball this season.

Well this comes as a very pleasant surprise!! As Kiki said, Stromile wasn't getting a chance to play and this is an opportunity for him to get some playing time!!
If nobody picks him up, then he can spend time with family if that's what he wants to do.

Surprised myself... At least we can sign another guard now...

Maybe Stromile will sign with Cleveland!
And by the way, Luther Head's defense is horrible. picking him up would be a huge mistake.

One question guys?
Do you think Swift could guard Lebron for 10 minutes in sf spot? He is tall, has length, speed???
I as a Boston fan would sign him to put on Lebron in playoffs

^^^^^^^^^^ Probably not. And I am not even taking his current conditioning into account. IMO Swift is probably done with basketball for the season.

He could do it but he hasn't been used that way in a long time. Usually he's the best defender in the paint on his team so when he is guarding perimeter players he tends to
sag into the paintto help cover for the defensive scrubs he plays with.
He shows his quickness when defending pick and rolls. He's always been good at shutting down opposing point guards on pick and rolls.

What is up with CDR? He should get those minutes

As much as I love CDR, we need shooting. And Head can shoot. I think thats basically what it comes down too. Our only offensive punch off the bench is Hayes and Dooling. And both are injured or fighting injuries.

I disagree. The Nets need more guys who can attack the rim and get to the foul line.

I gotta say, CDR looked quite effective and confident today.
Then again his shooting was terrible.
This team needs a true consistent, reliable shooter, not another streak shooter to add to the collection of mediocre streak shooters.
I honestly don't know which Head is, I haven't watched the Rockets much at all this season and I believe Head had lost pretty much all his minutes to Brooks, Wafer and Barry.

Head can hit the three that's about it.

Yeah all he can do is shoot in my opinion from what I've seen. When he's on, he's lights out, but that's all. I'd honestly rather get a guy who can create shots for others and has the ability to knock down a jumper when needed. Besides Hassell, most of our guys have decent mid range games, we just need another PG who can get them the ball. As much as I like Keyon, he doesn't really do that. Go get Jaycee Carroll and call it the day.

Head has a PG body , but he only could play SG with Zero 0 PG skills. (too bad he was playing with Derron). His 3s are not bad when he sets up. But, he was shooting 7% 3s during the playoff.

I just said he should be on a team like the Suns or the Warriors in the thread about Stro last week. I should be a damn GM lol. Regardless, I think it's a good fit for him. He plays better defense than Amare, doesn't NEED to have the ball in his hands constantly to be effective on offense and I think that will make him fit nicely next to Shaq honestly.
I wish Stro the best with getting through his tough time and fitting in with his new team.

I wonder why its not in the news yet, about Swift being on the Suns. From what i hear the Suns gave the Nets money to buy out Swift and he's getting on a plane Tuesday to meet the Suns in Miami. Is that even legal in the NBA?
