What do you guys think do you think he can be a hall famer? An All Star? A Role Player? What do you guys think? He needs work on his footwork, his passing skills, his soft touch, and polish his post moves. Do you guys think he will improve?

Brook owns. He's a top 5 rookie this year easily. I'm not gonna get ahead of myself with making predictions, but as long as he keeps working hard and he doesn't do anything stupid, we may have at least a Franchise Center on our hands. That's all I'll say now.

I thought we drafted a bust. He's making me eat my words. With some polish on his range and post defense, like Prelude said, we could definitely have ourselves a franchise center here.

Raptors fan here. Congrats on finding your center for the next 10 years at least with the 10th pick in the draft. Can't believe he slipped that far. Can't say the same for Bargnani. Top 5 in blocks and almost a double double when starting and he's still young. Also a class act and hard worker, can't ask for more from this kid.

exactly how i felt. i was on a plane to austria when the draft was going on so i didnt know what happened till the next day. i was praying the whole time on the plane "please dont draft brook lopez", but im glad to say i was wrong. this kid is gonna be great. i dont know about hall of fame but certainly a franchise center that can help us win some big time playoff games in the future.

The funny thing is yeah he has a lot of developing to do, but if he gets feeds in the post like last night, he can make a run for ROY.

Did you see that post up where he drove to the center of the paint and quick jumper? I thought I was watching Ewing!!!

I think Ewing is actually a rather good comparison. Not the monster that would put fear into the toughest mans eyes like at Georgetown, but the solid scoring, decent defender/shotblocker version of Ewing on the Knicks. That's not a knock because I have a lot of respect for the guy, but I would be completely fine if he turned out to be close to Ewing.

I died 2 weeks ago when John Hollinger actually said if voting was fair that Lopez should be the ROY, but he won't be unless he just starts flat out going off. That was the first time in a LONG time Hollinger complimented a Net without an immediate jab in the following sentence. Chad Ford also said similar things about Lopez recently.

yeah he had lopez, mayo, rose and westbrook in a 4 way tie for rookie of the year. he also noted that he ranked lopez 1st because out of those 4 L comes first alphabetically.

Though Ewing had personality issues, I give that guy a lot of respect. He carried a team of CBA players. It is unfortunate that the Dolans didnt give Riley what he wanted. The knicks would have won a Championship during the Ewing times. The fact that the Knicks traded Ewing was total disrespect. They should have given him whatever he wanted.

So comparing Lopez to Ewing is an honor. Though I would like to see him develop into Duncan.

yeh good things are being said and Lopez is being acknowledged well by NBA watchers...I like the Ewing comparison too...but lets not get ahead of ourselves...imagine we had Granger...sorry...I still cant shake this...especially after the allstar break...I dont know if I'll ever be able to get over that one...man...but Brook w/ Devin could make up for a lot...

Dude I seriously used to write him once a week for close to 2 years straight. The d-bag never responded. I'd say 3/4 of the guys I've written to, even if they've been negative (because I don't just say "you suck") have responded and I've grown to respect them. Hollinger is have a grudge with though. It's funny because I'm a pretty level headed guy, until you talk smack about my teams.

I really like Lopez. To be honest, I KNEW he would be this good BUT not this early though. But yeah, you guys had GREAT value at #9 (Lopez). He impressed me in the first matchup against the Kings. iirc he went 20/8 and several blocks. He showed a skilled list of offensive moves that are seen in a true center. i.e. hooks, spin move, and etc. Heck he even popped a jumper around the key. I think you guys found your future center for the next decade or so.

He has the offensive game, he can block shots with the best of them and can rebound. He just needs to polish the offensive game a little, learn when to give up the ball on double teams and pass outs.

definitely...I new the talent was there, but I wasnt going to bet on when you would see it...I thought we would get glimpses of it this year...but w/ the consistency he has brough this year, he's probably 2yrs ahead of schedule in my book...there's adjustments made game by game basis...he's a great student of the game, he's obvioulsy listening to his teammates and coaching staff...and wants to improve and elevate his game now...He just not out there learning, he cares about playing good every night...If your not a Nets fan, Brook Lopez is enough reason to watch the Nets...

His biggest weakness seems to be a boring style of offense. He's averaging only 2.2 FT attempts per game. Make excuses all you want, but Duncan averaged nearly 6 as a rookie. Ewing averaged over 6 free throw attempts per game as a rookie.

Boring front court play has been a major weakness for the Nets this season. They need to balance the mechanical style of Lopez with the dynamic aggression of Stromile Swift or Sean Williams in the starting lineup instead of starting two boring big men as they have done all season with Lopez and Yi or Anderson..

How good is Brook?

Just a vag hair short of Stromile Swift.
