CDR Playing Time

Post#1 » by Rockice_8 » Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:56 pm

Do you think with CDR's recent performance he will continue to see playing time or do you think Frank will bench him when Harris comes back a go back to the three guard rotation. I hope CDR remains VC's backup even when Harris does return I like what he brings to the table. I guess this is also a plea for more Ryan Anderson as well, I hate watching this small ball with Simmons and Hassell at the 4, why do you think we get out rebounded every night. We should be running 10 deep every night and then when the game gets down to crunch time play the guys who have the hot hand.

Rotation should be as follows:

Harris/Dooling
VC/CDR
Hassell/Hayes
Yi/Anderson
Lopez/Williams

This is when everyone is healthy and not suspended. I've had enough of Simmons and Boone. Simmons won't be on this team next year and Boone pisses me off sometimes when he does something wrong it looks like he is going to cry, HE HAS ZERO CONFIDENCE. Frank still has this delusion that we're gonna make the playoffs. CDR and Anderson have shown a willingness to play hard its time to live or die with the future.

Harris is likely out for the season IMO.
Simmons will certainly be on this team next season unless Thorn and Kiki use his expiring contractin a blockbuster trade during the offseason.

C's fan here. I was a big fan of CDR in college and I was just wondering what your board's opinion of him is. Ceiling and all that.

In his prime, I'd love life he he was like Shane Battier. He has a high basketball IQ and can do everything pretty solidly. Once he get some consistency he can be a great 6 man or a decent starter to play next to a star.

I think he should get about 20 mins pg the rest of the way. Shut down DH for the season. One bad knock on his shoulder and he could need a re-co (hey i've seen it happen) don't sign a point guard. just leave VC Dooling CDR and (dare i say it) Ager to play the guard spot. With a little Hayes thrown in for good measure. It would be cool to watch and see how the young-uns go for the rest of the season.

Cheers

He sucked before. Now he had one good game and with not much to lose he should get PT the rest of the way barring any reversion to Crap Douglas-Roberts.

Another solid game for CDR.

I remember on draft night I was praying he'd somehow fall to the C's with the last pick in the first round, and then they picked up Giddens  he's been okay, very limited time so far but I know he's been in trade ideas and overall, I feel CDR will have a much better career than JR Giddens.

He should get playing time. so should anderson. But like Anderson he will play great for these games and then get bench when harris comes back. Anderson had his games. even back to back good games. then was bench for no reason to go back to this small ball that isn't working.

I hope both get to play. CDR is showing he can play and should play. but frank will bench him again when harris comes back. maybe not right away but in a few games, especially if he has one bad game.

Yep. That is Lawrence Frank for you.

Boone gets benched for a few bad games. CDR gets not burn because they want to convert him to a PG. LOL! The guy is showing them that he was never a PG.

Frank is a terrible at figuring out this players. Yeah giving Harris the reigns looked like a good idea, but Harris isnt a true PG. Now the Nets have a SOLID post player. Frank is going to pull the reigns back like he has done before.

-Frank takes ball out of Kidd's hands and has VC dribble up court. Kidd because odd man out no more running game.
-Frank gives VC iso plays. Kidd and RJ watch VC play 1 on 5.
-No plays for RJ. Nets have no offense.
-Next year incorporate RJ in offense. VC takes back seat.
-Last year Hassel cant get on the court to help D. Now Hassel starts and is hitting open jumpers.
-Frank starts Simmons and incorporates him in Dribble Drive. Simmons cant dribble for $hit but can shoot spot up jumpers. Now Simmons comes off the bench shooting spot up jumpers like a mad man.
-FRANK IS A STUBBORN MULE. NEVER ANY F'N BALANCE.

My suggestion for PT for the remainder of the season:

Dooling (30) - Carter (30) - Hayes (26) - Anderson (26) - Lopez (34)
Roberts (22) - Hassell (20) - Simmons (16) - Jianlian (14) - Boone (20)

That's right, shut it down for Devin. He's a 26yo bona fide All-Star, possibly the best PG in the East. We're not playing for a championship, nor anything close. He's banged up from the season as a whole, but this shoulder injury in particular SHOULD NOT BE RUSHED.

Also, let Lucas babysit Sean for the rest of the year.

I would love if the Opester would start CDR at the 3 the rest of the season and give him 30mpg.
Cut Simmons and Hassel to about 10mpg each and Hayes down to maybe 15 and get Anderson and Buckets close to 30mpg each and throw Yi a steady 24 or more regardless of foul trouble.

I don't think CDR can handle big minutes at SF. But Vince could. Starting Roberts could benefit us in the long run, but I think it's better to let him grow into a role, rather than giftwrapping one for him (see: Yi, Jianlian).

Do you see him as a future starter, or career backup?

I think he can become a starter but he's going to have to gain some weight / get stronger first.

He can develop getting time behind Carter, then when Carter leaves (either via trade or free agency) CDR can step in. He is already a factor on defense, he seemed to frustrate Rip a ton last night.
