This team's next coach?
Ok guys so basically for the past 4-5 years we've all been yelling for Frank aka the infamous Opie's head and well after yet another dissapointing/crappy season it looks like Franky might be gone now that his contract is over.
Now there are plety of great coaches out there just ready to be taken and we'll be fools not to take one of em.
I nominate Flip Saunders it really boggles my mind how a guy that lead a team without a franchise player to 5 eastern conference finals and numerous 50+ wins seasons.

I would not be popping any champaign bottles anytime soon. Frank is signed for next season and unless his contract is not guaranteed I doubt a team like us that is losing money is going to take another loss by eating his contract and hiring a new coach.
Although if we can get somebody really cheep it could be possible. I would have to think the Czar would be the front runner being he already has a foot in the door.

I think Avery Johnson would be perfect for us. He would make Devin Harris a better player I believe

Say no to Avery Johnson. I don't want a two-face POS around here. Plus Devin clearly doesn't like the dude as much as Avery would like you to think otherwise...

Re: This team's next coach?
All i want is Frank's head and i hope he brings Rod Thorn with him as well. We need a total rebuilding in that department as well, not just the players. Im sick and tired of Rod's craziness over Frank. How could you get rid of a decent coach who helped you make it to the finals twice in a row and replace him with an unexperinced coach and give him all this contract years with all this money? And this coach until now does not know his line up, he kept replacing a starter with a DNP player? I mean, if you're going to replace a starter, replace him with his back up not the player that you do not want to play, he did that with Anderson twice, and please dont tell me he only did that this time because Simmons was injured, do you really think that if he's not injured, Frank would put him into the starting rotation as a PF? It's just crazy for me, i really dont get that.

I wanted Rick Adelman when he was available. Since he's not I'd go with Eddie Jordan or maybe even Mike Fratello.

I love Patrick but I would rather go with an established coach. Czar is my guy right now.

Re: This team's next coach?
Although I like Czar, I'm not sure he's right for this team either. We need a younger, hungry coach who is out to prove something. Eddie Jordan (after the firing), Mark Jackson (still believe he'll be a solid head coach soon) and Mike Budenholzer (Popovich's #1 assistant, arrived the same year as Pop in SA - proven winning franchise who could instill some hope)
Mike Budenholzer, San Antonio Spurs
To get a sense of how successful Budenholzer has been as an assistant coach, just know that he came into San Antonio the same year Greg Popovich did. All those rings Pop's got, Budenholzer's got, too.
Budenholzer is an offensive guy, known especially for running offenses in the last two minutes of a quarter. He makes his rounds to summer camps and training sessions working on a number of things, but as the heir apparent to the San Antonio Spurs' coaching throne there's no question where he sits in the hierarchy of the league's top assistants.

IMO that was the reasoning this year. IMO with the way Lopez is developing and Harris at the point, I think there maybe some interest from a few potential coaches in coming here. I think Thorn will way that too. Thorn's endorsement of Frank is political. He wont throw Frank under the bus, at least not before the end of the season.

At this point I dont care who replaces this idiot coach.
As long as it is someone the understand the players he has and can make some sound decisions on his lineups and rotations.

Re: This team's next coach?
I like Adelman the best as well, here's to hoping Houston fires him.
I like Eddie Jordan, Rudy Tomjanovic(If you can convince him out of retirement) and G's argument fore the San An assistant was convincing enough, sign me up.
I don't hate the idea of Flip Saunders.
I wouldn't even mind giving Eric Snow a shot.

Oh god no... Say no to Rick Adelman and Flop Saunders.
Eddie Jordan might be worth a shot but I have questions about his ability to assemble a strong defensive ball club. Though he's been out of it for a while and can be a bit controlling Paul Silas is a guy who I wouldn't mind having.

Re: This team's next coach?
Quoting “sources close to the situation”, Julian Garcia reports Friday that barring a complete collapse in the final seven games, Lawrence Frank will be back on the Nets bench next season. Garcia writes that Frank remains close to Rod Thorn and that Thorn’s comments about evaluating Frank at season’s end are typical for Thorn who “is almost always noncommittal when discussing long-term personnel issues.”

I just don't understand what Thorn sees in Lawrence Frank. He's a nice guy and he seems to be intelligent, but everything about him screams ASSISTANT COACH. He just doesn't have the toughness that a team needs in order to respect their superior and authoritative figure. I wouldn't mind flip saunders or mike fratello; both coaches are respectable and have proven themselves in some form. I would take either over Frank at this point. I'm not a fan of throwing coaches under a bus when it's a TEAM game but this team does have some form of talent (which we've seen sparks of throughout tye year). They don't play anywhere near their potential.

I totally agree with you.
I really dont see how Thorn can continue to defend this guy. The only reason has to be financial.
You are right. If Frank used Lopez the right way Lopez WOULD be the ROY. Frank should have realized that Harris' leach should have been pulled back a little with the way Lopez was playing. The Dribble Drive wasnt working and should have adjusted sooner. Simmons should have been just a spot up shooter. Yi should have been benched sooner. Anderson should have gotten consistent PT. Swat and Boone should have been utilized more in the rotation.
THIS GUY SUCKS. ANYONE WOULD BE BETTER AT THIS POINT.
Mario Elie, the assistant on the Celtics, Jordan, Czar. For Christ Sakes, Herb Williams would be better.

Re: This team's next coach?
Well as NetsForce has alluded to numerous times, Opie is signed through next season and per financial reasons will probably with our club until at least half way through next season.

Re: This team's next coach?
why all the hate with L-Frank? Sure his teams look piss poor on defense at times however besides carter adn harris everyone else in that roster is average. He had this team playing well for the first month or so of the season.
I love how he is one of the few coaches that yell for 30 some plus minutes at his players and barks orders out. I always wondered how his team feels about playing for them, dsnt seem carter minds.
