Earl Clark Wants To Be A Net

Post#1 » by SeabassP » Sat Apr 11, 2009 7:09 pm

Earl Clark said on his blog that he wants to be a Net:

http://thenetsarescorching.wordpress.co ... -the-nets/

This is pretty interesting, I say we draft him if he is still there at 11. With CDR stepping up, I don't think we need to draft a 3, lets take Earl Clark. He wants to be a Net! I don't think too many kids coming out of college will say that.

Yeah, I doubt he slips past 10 and I could easily see him going top 8, you never know though, nobody but Griffin and Rubio are top 3 locks and there is a long way to go till the draft. I mean Brook was mainly considered a top 5 lick in a better draft last year and look what happened.

The guys I like the best at our projected pick, as long as they declare, in no partiular order:
Greg Monroe
Earl Clark
Jordan Hill
Demar DeRozan
Terrence Williams
James Johnson

The first 3 aren't likely to fall to us and I listed no point guards, cause we shouldn't draft a point guard under any circumstances, unless Rubio fell to us or we made a top 3 jump.

I've been yapping about Early Clark and my love for this kid since the season started. He's a top 3 favorite college player of mine. I honestly think he is exactly what this team needs. He'd lock up the SF position for the next decade. Hell we could even go small at times and move him to the 4. I love this kid. I think if we feel he's gonna go before our pick, we have enough assets to get him wherever he goes. Obviously I still love James Harden...he's a pipe dream though. Ideally, Earl Clark would make me smile just as much.

IMO Earl Clark is not a tweener but a true hybrid forward. At the same time I feel he is much better suited for the power forward position in the NBA, although he has the lateral quicks, length and athleticism to easily guard SFs as well.
It would be nice to see a starting frontcourt of Clark/Anderson/Lopez.

"If the Nets can’t pull a Chicago Bulls and get the number 1 pick, Earl Clark could be drafted by the Nets. That’s fine by him:"

Now i know this kid is a top 7 or 8 pick, but #1 overall???

Why would anyone want to come to play for the Nets?

Is he from jersey? Or his agent, Fegan, is pulling some strings?

Fegan is also the guy that is saying that Yi, his client, needs more PT.

If the Nets CAN'T get the number 1 pick. If we get the number 1 pick, it's Blake Griffin no question.

Earl Clark is a stud, and he would look good with the Nets. Rebuilding around a core of Lopez, Clark, Harris along with 2010 cap-space; watch out for the Nets!

Clark probably won't be there, but you never know.

I have my heart set on DeRozan

Clark will be there at 11, and now that Aminu has stated that he is staying at Wake, I'm OK with NJN drafting Earl.

I really worry about him following the career path of the succession of Jersey "hybrid" forwards: Al Harrington, Tim Thomas, Charlie Villanueva. I also see some Eddie Griffin (not a NJ native, but a Seton hall product) in him, which worries me. If he becomes more of a poor-man's Deng, though, I'll be happy.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Honestly, if Eddie Griffin wasn't so whacked out, he was a great player. I'd be fine if Clark was Eddie Griffin without the baggage. That kid had all the tools and proved it on the court, then off court issued obviously curtailed his career. Even his last year in Minny, he put up some solid games.

Clark is a different player than Deng. Clark is more comfortable at the 4 but can play the 3 pretty well.

Besides his suspect jumper, I see no real comparison to Deng.

I also don't see him there at 11, but stranger thing have happened in drafts.

Ecuhus, in your opinion, what 10 players go before him for him to be there at 11?

Prelude, I agree with you, if Clark wound up having a lot of Eddie Griffen in his game I would be thrilled as long as it doesn't come with Eddie's mindset and problems. R.I.P.

I hated Eddie Griffin in college (screw Seton Hall), but loved him in the NBA. He had the tools to be an above average player in the NBA and I do see similarities in Earl's game. Eddie seemed to be turning it around in Minny the last year he was with us. It's a shame. RIP Eddie.
