Portland / New Jersey trade idea

Post#1 » by Sinobas » Sun May 3, 2009 9:52 pm

Would you guys trade Devin Harris and Brook Lopez to the Blazers for Jerryd Bayless, Greg Oden and Steve Blake?

ACCESS DENIED.

As it is Lopez has more value than Oden, and even if you want to argue that those two have equal value,

I just love thinking about this trade. The most improved player of the year and a first team all rookie for a rookie who couldn't get off the bench this season, a PG who runs the show rather well but isn't a difference maker, and greg oden who hasn't really shown what people expected him to do (may not be his fault totally, but I'm just saying he hasn't).

I'm gonna go giggle to myself.

If this ever went down, I'd say give me Aldridge, Batum, Bayless, Rudy, Outlaw for Brook and Devin. Not fair at all, but it's the best I'm offering.

Whoa, I was gonna say neither team would do this trade until I saw AND Brook Lopez. Yeah, I'd agree it would take Roy to get NJ to talk though in that scenario I say both teams decline.

This would never happen as long as Thorn is here. Maybe you can try when SLY becomes the President /GM.

Why would we want to trade the two most important pieces of a team?

The funny thing about this is they could have had VC and advanced but their owner was being a cheap skate. We knew that was going to happen. Roy needs help. VC was a good option. Now the Blazers could spend all summer wishing what could have been.

Another Portland fan here.

Let me start off by saying that the above trade idea is just ridiculous, although it was probably meant to be a joke or (if he's not a Portland fan) to make us look like incredible homers and idiots.

Anyways, there was a discussion on the blazer board about possible targets for next season and our offseason plan. Someone suggested this and obviously was very confident it could happen:

farzi wrote:Trade Webster, Blake, Outlaw, New Orleans Pick for Vince Carter. They get 2 expiring players, and a cheap Webster, and get Blake to either back up Harris or play the 1 while Harris plays 2.

While Webster and/or Outlaw would be good additions to your team IMO, I think you don't really have much use for Blake since you guys have Devin Harris and like Dooling as his back-up.
Outlaw (3.6 mill) and Blake (4.0 mill) could simply be cut, New Orleans pick (that we would get in another trade) would be at #21 IIRC. IMO those are decent trade assets but not close to being enough for VC.

Your opinions please.

^^^ Now, if the Nets wanted to do a full rebuild, I would rather get some different guys than these, but I think this is fair value. We have 2 decent guys in Webster and Outlaw and hopefully one of them can become a solid starter quality guy. We'd get a solid back up PG in Blake, plus New Orleans pick. Value wise, it's a fair trade in my opinion. I don't know if the Nets would pull the trigger. I think if it happened, it'd be a draft night deal personally, but I do believe it's fair. Of course, I'd rather you give us Rudy or Batum, but KP seems to have a mancrush on those guys.
