How can we get the 4 pick?

Post#1 » by aussienet » Wed May 20, 2009 4:03 am

First off is it worth chasing after? If so what do you guy's think it would take for Sac to give it to us?
I haven't got time to go into it right now. So i'll let you guy's discuss for a while

The only way I think the Nets can get a top 5 pick is if one from the group of Carter, Harris and Lopez is going the other way. I would not deal Brook or Harris. I'd deal Carter, but Sacramento doesn't look like a viable option. Washington might be though.

who would we be trageting if we moved. Only place i would move up to is #1. Are you saying we should move up to # 4 and then further trade that pick with some future picks to LAC to get # 1? I'd be down for that

It could be a wise idea to trade Vince to the Wizards and use their pick on Demar Derozan who is just sooooo gifted and talented and most importantly young.
I think we should focus our trade attempts at the Clippers though, them getting the 1st pick could be excellent for us.
They have WAAAAAAAAY too many forwards and are about to draft another one.
What we should do is go for Griffin, if that doesnt go we should at least try to get Marcus Camby or Al Thorton both would be excellent for us.

Nope, forget the #1 pick. this year is a weak draft. unless we could get top 5 pick for any combination of ONLY simmons, yi, najera, boone, or 11th pick would I like the idea. i say nets stay at 11 and also go after boozer and artest in free agency. and for the pick id say james johnson or preferably earl clark.

Thanks guy's. My Big question is do we trade up or trade out and have three picks next year? I guess if we trade up alot of talk has been about us getting James Harnden. But that depends on where Thorn and Kiki think he will be drafted. At the moment I'm leaning towards what rev said but only in terms of trading up, those players are the expendable ones, I'd like to do a swap of picks and some players.
Having said that. The thought of trading out of this years draft and landing three first rounders for next year really intrigues me. Is the draft really that deep next year or does it depend on a lot of players declaring early as usual?

Thoughts?

I would definitely go after Harden at 4 or 5 (with the latter being more possible). This is a guy who would have been picked top 10 last year if he came out. I think he's the 2nd or 3rd (haven't seen enough of Rubio) best player in the draft but is being knocked based off of his last 3 college games in which he admittedly tried to let the game come to him instead of being over-aggressive.

His athleticism is extremely underrated (Draftexpress did a by the numbers analysis of SGs and Harden was more or less the best finisher in all of college bball) and his game would fit perfectly here, where his passing would incite a more fluid team oriented offense.

and neither would I. If we could get harden for say the fifth pick. I would gladly swap picks plus anyone not in the big 3. Then two still have two picks for next years "deeper" draft. That would be awesome.

There is a slight outside shot Harden could fall to the 11th pick, but the odds are about as good as us having landed the 1st overall pick. I could see him slipping to the 7th pick and I could see us as excellent trade partners. Even if a Yi for Brandon Wright swap is unrealistic, I could see the 11th pick and Yi, or the 11th pick and GSW's pick returned could get us the 7th, as long as the guy GSW really wanted dropped to 11.

Im starting to really like james johnson - perhaps we should just stay at 11? Johnson really attacks the rim, can finish in traffic and is very agrressive.
