Hill could drop to 11th, NJN lucky again?

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Thu Jun 4, 2009 1:37 pm

Could New Jersey Nets be lucky again?

1 LA Clippers Blake Griffin
2 Memphis Ricky Rubio/Hasheem Thabeet
3 Oklahoma City Hasheem Thabeet/Ricky Rubio

I think first three pick for sure will be Griffin. Rubio and Thabeet.

4 Sacramento Jrue Holiday/Brandon Jennings

It is hard to say what Sac will do, but they will draft pg.

5 Washington James Harden
This is the the pick where Hill could go, but I see Was has a hole at sg also if they trade the pick I think teams would be more interested in Harden than in Hill.

6 Minnesota Tyreke Evans
With Jefferson and Lowe in c/pf spot and all the reports they like Evans and that they want a sg/pg Evans is the pick.

7 Golden St. Brandon Jennings
Gsw is the biggest mistery, but again for sure they wont pick Hill with Randolpf/Wright at pf spot...they also want ps so Jennings, maybe Flynn is the pick here.

8 New York Stephen Curry
It looks like he is a safe pick here.

9 Toronto DeMar DeRozan
Bosh/Bargnani at pf/c and no sg/sf...De Rozan looks like a pick or another sg/sf.

10 Milwaukee Jonny Flynn
This is an option for Hill to go...if Flynn is no more around(Gsw) Mil could pick Hill. Ok they have Aleksander/Moute at sf/pf but both are more suited for sf. And with Villanueva to go away they could pick Hill but looks they really like Flynn.

11 New Jersey Jordan Hill
Yes, again duo to picking players by position by teams infront of NJN the story of Brook Lopez could repeat this year and NJN could get another steal in Hill.

I just read this

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jordan-Hill-1222/

best parts of the interview is this

Jonathan Givony: Have you been watching the NBA playoffs at all?

Jordan Hill: Yeah.

Jonathan Givony: Anything you’ve been noticing about the big guys there, like things that suit you, that could compliment your skill set?

Jordan Hill: The big guys in there, they’re kind of different, like Dwight Howard- he’s just at the basket, dunking everything, Paul Gasol- he can step out and shoot the mid-range, get rebounds, use the post move, but I think I can be more aggressive than him. He is a good player, but I think I can be more aggressive.

Jonathan Givony: Kenyon Martin, or Nene?

Jordan Hill: Kenyon Martin- I like him, he’s a beast. He’s got a lot of heart and he’s really aggressive, I like watching him.

I like Hill a lot but I'm still concerned about him a little. Another main thing is, I'm fine drafting Hill if he falls to us, but if we don't make some trades to clear up the logjam of young bigs on our roster by the start of the season, I'll choke a bitch. As of right now, I still have Johnson then Clark at the top of my list, but if Hill played out to us, I'd be nervously excited.

Hey Prelude,

What worries you about him?

As for the Logjam, I am not worried. I want people to compete for the position. I just dont like the way Frank randomly picks people to play.

If my a stroke of luck Hill falls to us, there is no reason for this guy to not be in the starting lineup by the allstar break. According to what I am reading, he has a mid range jumper, can rebound and can play d. Unless he gets hurt or FRANK is a dick-tator about his playing time, I think Hill should be better then what we have.

It's really personal preference. You can call me a homer all you want (because it's probably deserved when it comes to Hill), and I'll admit I don't pay that much attention Arizona ball. I caught both games in the tourney and a few late night west coast games during the season and he has the energy and he's a talented kid, I just never saw him do anything that I was like "wow he's a stud." But I'm not paid for my analysis of players, so all I can do is read about him and make a gut decision. I think if there were more big men in this draft, he'd be around our pick or fall to the late lottery. I'm not saying I'd be pissed if he fell and we took him. Thorn takes the best player available. It really only worked out once (brook) in recent years (Wright, Swat, Marcus, to name a few) and most of those guys fell on draft night. I'm high on CDR (who fell) but I'm holding judgement until he gets more playing time, but I think the kid can ball and thought he would be solid in the NBA since he was a junior.

That and I've seen James Johnson and Earl Clark play about 20 times each this season and think they have huge upside is the reason for my homerific view of Hill. I'm generally usually weary of taking the "fallen" lottery pick. The only one I actually was excited for were Brook. I wanted Granger when we took Wright, I wanted Farmar when we took Marcus and with SWAT, I thought it was the right pick based on needs but wasn't totally sure how he'd play out. I just get nervous because history doesn't play into our hands all too well with the "fallen ones." If it does, we need to make t-shirts with Hill and Brook that says "fallen ones." 90% of people wouldn't get it unless they pay attention to the NBA draft though lol.

I watched almost every game actually, since I'm an Arizona fan. This guy would be a steal at #11. If we're so lucky to do this again, our front court is set for nearly a decade. Hill and Lopez' games would compliment each other very nicely. Lopez is more of a banger and rebounder. Hill is a spot up shooter with some nice go-to post moves and is a hustler. Both have great shot blocking ability and both have a passion for going to get the ball. I'd be ecstatic if he fell to us.

I'd still be fine with getting DeJuan Blair, as well. This guy is a beast and will have a Elton Brand (pre-injury) type game. Maybe not as polished offensively, but most of these "experts" are underrating this guys passion to put the ball in the basket. His rebounding and defensive skills are blatantly apparent so I don't even have to mention it. Either one of these guys is fine by me.

I still think we need a 3rd PG or combo guard, someone like Flip Murray, Bobby Jackson or Keith Bogans.

G_MoNeY: If Hill can improve his consistency from 18-20 feet out within the next 2-3 years, you are 100% correct he would be perfect next to Brook. I do believe the kid is talented and would be fine taking him. I'm just slightly worried which I think I'm allowed to be. Nonetheless, like all our draft picks, I'll support whoever we draft until the day he isn't in a Net uni...unless you're K-Mart then I'll support you forever.

To add to your 3rd string PG, I wish we could land Pargo, but our 3rd string is gonna be an end of the bench PG like Jaycee or something. They guy will likely only play when we want Keyon playing the 2 and need someone running the ball or when K or Devin are injured. I don't think they'd want to pay a few mill for a guy who will likely only get 10-12 minutes a game. I do like how Vince said yesterday we flat out need another PG. I just hope Thorn doesn't hear that and draft Flynn or something.

I watched a lot of him this season and a lot of Pac 10 ball in general.

I love this kid.

I will dig up some old posts I made about him on the NBA Draft Board, my home away from home, lol. I am on the board probably the most out of any on this site.

Jordan Hill potentially slipping into the bottom of the top-10 or even possibly slightly beyond. The talk is that the Washington Wizards’ 5th pick could very well end up being claimed by Stephen Curry (whether for them or another team trading up), and that since Minnesota, Golden State, New York and maybe even Toronto appear to be looking at other positional needs, Hill could be on the short end of the stick come draft night.

^^I'm not saying it couldn't or won't happen because look at Brook last year, but I think it's more likely Clark, Hill and Blair are all gone by the 11th pick and we draft someone like Brandon Jennnings as BPA if we we don't trade up, or trade down if James Johnson's stock doesn't climb and he's availabe at like 16 or 18.
