Hey Nets fans, would you do this trade?

Post#1 » by JDOB » Thu Jun 11, 2009 12:57 am

Raptors fan here, there's been some buzz going around on the Raptors board here that Keyon Dooling may get dealt for Kris Humphries. A credible poster on the Raps board says that his friend works somewhere in the organization and there's a rumble that it may go down. He's not sure if it'll be straight up or other players/picks (possible 11 for 9 swap)/cash, but this is what he has reported. Some posters have altered the trade a bit, some possible deals looking like:
Keyon Dooling for Kris Humphries
Keyon and Eduardo for Kris and Roko Ukic
Keyon and Jarvis for Kris and Roko and/or Marcus Banks
What do you guys think?

I can't see this happening. Keyon is an awesome backup signed to a great contract. It actually costs NJ money in the long run figuring Dooling isn't guaranteed in 2010-11. The only way I see Dooling being dealt to Toronto is as part of a bigger deal like a pick swap and it's still seems suspect. The Banks variation is straight comical as is even the Roko one.

Dooling for Humphries is a definite no, as is any deal that involves Marcus Banks. Only 500K of Dooling's 2010/11 salary is guaranteed so the Nets are getting the inferior player and taking on more salary.

I don't particularly like Dooling/Najera/11 for Humphries/Ukic/9, but I can sort of see the rationale for it.

You know, I hated the Najera signing and still do, but I still don't think i would even do that trade to dump him and trade up. Humphries is such trash and Ukic is like a homeless man's Udrih after he smoked up all the profit from his aluminum can collection.
Ugh.

Wow guys, a little harsh? Roko was only a rookie, give the kid time. What's so bad about Hump? I think he'd solve a chunk of your PF issue.

Bottom line, neither of those guys are something of immediate value to us. Keyon has immediate value to us. He brings a ton to the table. Cheap contract, can play both guard positions, above average defender. Humphries is nowhere near the PF we are looking for. Ukic, I will admit I haven't seen much of, but I honestly want a vet PG as our third string. Ukic just sounds like Zoran all over again from the 2-3 things I was able to read on the kid.

So if we don't view either of these guys as an immediate value to us, why would we give you someone of immediate value in return? It just doesn't make sense.

Toronto and Jersey are horrible trade partners as of this moment.

Christ there are 11 pages to a thread for a trade that is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) for the Nets? If this was Najera for Kris, I wouldn't think twice and stamp my approval, but I am 100% positive the Nets would never do this.

You know what's funny, I know/knew 3 people in the Nets organization. The year we lost out on SAR, I was told by all 3 that we called the Cavs that summer and offered at least 3 separate deals for Big Z. Cleveland laughed at us all 3 times.

Moral of that story is, they could have had a "discussion" in that Toronto called us and we laughed until they got the picture.

Yeah, Toronto fans are crazy when it comes to the length of some posts. Would you do the trade with our 3 million trade exemption included?

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but Bryan Colangelo (Raptors GM) said that a trade will be made July 1st. Seeing as the only two BYC players on the Raps are Humphries and Calderon (who Colangelo has publicly stated that he's a part of the Raps future), chances are that Humphries will be gone come July 1st. Considering that a credible poster notified us, chances are it's Hump for Dooling. :)

When the Dooling trade doesn't go down, and trust me it won't go down because multiple Nets beatswriters confirmed with Nets insiders that no such discussions have ever taken place, then you have to promise to never post on RealGM again. Okay? Good done deal.

Humprhies would be the 6th big man off the bench.

Lol, if it doesn't happen, I promise not to post on the Nets board ever again. What's your end of the deal?
