Congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers for winning their 15th NBA Championship (everybody outside LA boos). With that said, our offseason begins. Feel free to discuss free agent targets, domestic or international and restricted or unrestricted along with trade ideas here.

Move Simmons/Boone/Williams/pick if needed for a solid PF

Draft Earl Clark or James Johnson

Sign Artest to the MLE

sign Jaycee Carrol for circus peanuts to be our 3rd string PG

I think Artest and Boozer are 100% must get. It would probablly be tough to get both but at least one is a necessity. I also would like the idea of having Turkoglu at the SF as a MASSIVE upgrade. Word is hes gonna opt out.

Shaq Traded To Cavs (Merging To Offseason Thread)

Rumor has it that the Suns and Cavs are close to a deal for Shaq. I think it involves Wally and Anderson "the flopping machine". I think the Suns are holding out for West and the Cavs don't want to give him up. If the deal goes though as proposed then put Cleveland in the Championship as long as Shaq stays healthy and plays the way he did this year. This is a real story that sounds like it's really gonna happen. I'm not searching for the link but I saw in on espn and Broussard said that there is a real good shot they make this happen. Just figured I'd post it in case you guys didn't hear. Peace out dying for the draft already.

If we landed Turk, we'd likely miss out on Boozer. Granted I say that, but I haven't looked at our cap figures so I could be way off here, but both Turk and Boozer would need s&t's to get done right? I don't think we have enough assets to land both. If we do, forget everything I said and I'd gladly take those guys.

I really do think Artest is a must get. Even more so than Boozer. As good as Boozer is, I'm still scared of how much money he wants when he had missed 33% of his possible games played under his last contract.

Artest on the other hand is a stud defensive guy, put the ball in the hoop (he does tend to chuck when he's the 1st scoring option on the court though) and will bring the toughness and attitude I think this team needs. Also, we're moving to New York. It's gonna happen. I love Artest but I also think we need a NY guy on our team as well. I know not everyone team has a hometown guy, but I think it's nice when you can land a great player who is also from the area. Artest said before he was traded to Houston he will only seek the MLE when he became a free agent. If he holds his word, I think it's a nobrainer.

I can understand the straight salary dump from the Suns perspective, but Wallace and Sasha are both absolute hot trash (if you don't include the Nets/Cavs series from 2 years ago). From what I read today and on the front page, looks like the Suns wanted Delonte and an expiring really instead of just Wally last deadline. If they can't get JJ or Delonte in the deal, I honestly can't see them being interested in a straight dump...unless they move Amare first and get some solid starter quality talent for him.

was on sportscenter a little while ago and the guy said the Suns wont just give Shaq away without getting talent back and the Cavs talks were just talk, nothing is imminent.

Can shaq agree to an extension this summer? He did say he wanted to play 2 years after this contract ended. I personally don't think him and Brook would play well together but I know we discussed Shaq to the Nets earlier this season. I am not interested in a 1 year rental and am fine waiting till 2010 to use our cap space, but if we can do a S&T with an extension agreed upon (like what people have been saying with the Amare rumors) I'd think about it.

Artest would be amazing to add, damn. I haven't read much about his off-season plans but if he's out there, that'd be great. The team could actually shape up nicely with him + the 11th pick. I don't even care for Boozer that much honestly. He's definitely a good player but I want the team to have attitude/toughness/defense, and he doesn't really fit the mold.

HOLY SMOKES, look who came back to town! No disrespect, but I haven't even read your posts. I'm sure I'm in agreement with everyone when I say it's good just to hear from you.

Haha yeah, by my signature we can see how long it has been. I don't know, I was finishing up HS and was extremely busy, and then this just gradually fell out of my routine in a big way. I wasn't even able to watch more than 10-15 games this year tops because I wasn't in the region at school. I doubt I'm able to be on too much but I found myself reading articles recently and just wanting to talk about them. I'm an idiot, should have posted.

BUT HIS SIG HAS JOSH BOONE IN IT WHY WOULD HE WANT A NEW ONE?!??!

If you do want one though let me know, I was going to open up a thread again and take requests but am just waiting for summer classes to cool down, I go from 4 classes 5 days a week in June to 2 classes 2 days a week in July.

And for the record there are now a number of free sites out there that stream Nets / other NBA games, catch up with the times dawg.

Hello, Lakers fan here. Are you guys still trying to save money for 2010. What do you think of two trades with the Lakers? The first: Dooling straight up for Morrison (5.3 million expiring). The second: A future conditional pick for Farmar (1.9 million expiring). You spend 3.6 million more this season, but save 7.2 million for the summer of 2010.

First Trade: I'll stab you if you bring up Morrison in a Nets uni again. Plus, Net fans love Dooling

Second Trade: If it's GSW's future pick....where to I sign? I still wanted him over Marcus Williams on draft night a few years ago. He'd be a great back up PG for us, allowing Dooling to focus more on the 2-guard.

I'm with prelude here. If you want our GSW conditional 1st, I'll sign up.

HAHA. dooling for morrison!!! but that joke works equally with any player in the nba as long as morrison is involved. _____ for morrison! fill in the blank and it's guaranteed fun.

and i saw hedo's name in this thread. that is a bad idea.

ARTEST!!!! he'd be perfect on so many levels. Picks up our defensive intensity or maybe overall intensity because we tend to sleepwalk through entire halves of games sometimes. He can shoot the ball and strong enough to play on the block. He's like everything we needed bobby simmons to be.
