Harris to Memphis??

Post#1 » by Pugsley_2491 » Thu Jun 18, 2009 5:01 pm

I was just surfing the Raptors board and came across this
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=914984

It says we would be willing to trade Devin to the Grizz for the #2

Now that alone I wouldn't be too keen on doing but another poster said maybe Harris for #2 and Gay

That trade I would deff have to do
Thoughts?

Not in this draft. I agree, I'd have to do it if something else substantial was coming with it (the #2 pick), but I just don't care for Rubio that much at all. I love Harden but more as a compliment to Devin. I think he is the perfect type of player to put in the backcourt next to Harris. He could share ball-handling duties when Harris plays off-ball and could guard the 2's on defense. Doubt he falls to 5 but it'd be amazing to deal VC in a package for the #5 pick and swipe Harden, then take TWill at 11.

Honestly, I love Devin and I don't want to give him up only for #2, but if it was #2 and Gay, I say you got yourself a deal. We take Rubio, have Gay play the 3, draft Clark to play the 4, move Vince to the SG. We'd just need to sign a crafty vet to help develop Ricky, but I'd be fine with that definitely.

But if it's only #2 for Devin, Take a hike.

Yup. Rudy + #2 is a deal. They wouldn't do it though.

Hell I'd give them Devin plus Dallas's pick if they were serious. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself though lol.

Haha yeah. I still think the best thing for the Nets to do would be to work a trade with WAS for #5. That could get the future backcourt mate with Devin.

Obviously that might not be possible, but it is ideal. Especially with Amare maybe going to Minni. That takes away a suitor for #5.

Rudy Gay and pick #2? I think you have to do it.

Pick #2 straight up? Forget it.

I drooled at the thought of this actually happening with Rudy/#2 but I think Memphis would demand #11. A deal like this probably would only go down if Clark was there at 11 so the trade would happen after our pick. I don't think Memphis would miss Rudy too much if they landed Clark.

But if Thorn somehow stole Rudy/#2 from Memphis for Devin, I think I'd erect a church in Rod's honor. We'd then be able to still draft Earl and have a starting 5 of Devin/Vince/Rudy/Clark/Brook. I actually would consider drafting Curry over Rubio at this point because of Curry's shooting ability in the 2nd unit. It'd essentially be a Jersey version of what portland wishes they were lol. Then we'd just have to sign a few craft vets. Crap I wouldn't even use our cap space in 2010. I'd just hold onto it and extend our core guys.

Again, I'm getting ahead of myself. 99% chance this doesn't happen. I haven't heard any whispers about this anywhere else and I've been looking for the past hour almost.

Question: Is this fair to Memphis

Minny/Memphis/Jersey 3-team deal:

Minny Trades: Kevin Love, #7, #18, #28
Minny Receives: Devin Harris, #2 (draft Thabeet)

Jersey Trades: Devin Harris
Jersey Receives: Rudy Gay, #18

Memphis Trades: Rudy Gay, #2
Memphis Receives: Kevin Love, #7, #28

Minny gets Thabeet moving AlJeff to the 4 permanently and squares away their frontcourt for the next decade. They get a PG ready to play NOW.

Memphis can draft Curry or Flynn at 7 or take Derozan to play the 3. Their frontcourt would be Gasol/Love who can develop together. They can nab a decent guy still at 28

Jersey gets Rudy Gay to play the 3 for us, we can then draft Earl to be our 4 and take Mills or Maynor at 18. We'd have to sign a vet PG this offseason to help out, but that basically gives us a core of a decent PG/Vince/Gay/Clark/Lopez. If Mills or Maynor aren't ready to start next summer, we can use our cap space to sign an above average PG and save the rest for when we need to extend our young core.

I just don't know if Memphis would be pumped about this deal.

If Minnesota is willing to give up Kevin Love in a trade for Devin, I'd be more interested in trying to directly work out a deal with them and cut the Grizzlies out.

there has to be more involved in this trade. i would love to have rudy gay but theres no way thats happening. at LEAST throw in mike conley so we dont get stuck drafting ricky rubio. that guy is straight up garbage. i guarntee i can take him, hes 5 inches taller, same weight, and hes 5 years younger. Id smoke his spanish-filipino a$$. i play against filipinos every day they aint nothin! (ok ok im lying filipinos are nice on the court). how about the nets shock the world and draft derozan #2!

conley/dooling
derozan/cdr
VC/#11 pick (clark?)
boozer (i hope)/anderson/yi
lopez/boone

This is either:

a. A rumor
b. Something that has A LOT more to it.

The Nets wouldn't just trade harris for the 2nd pick...would they? I would expect them to at least ask for Gay.

That's my thinking. Which is why I was thinking about other possibilities. I can't just see them trading Vince, who was an all-star and 2nd in voting for MIP, just for the #2 pick, even if it's for Rubio who everyone is drooling over. Dave D mentioned in his article yesterday that we've been talking to Chicago and Minny the most out of any other team this week and I knew Minny/Memphis were talking so that's why I came up with the 3 team deal yesterday.

If it's ONLY Devin for #2, I'd rather keep Devin, trade with Chicago for #16 and #26 and draft two of the following: Terrence Williams, Omri Casspri, Patty Mills, James Johnson. I know a lot of people love Rubio, I'm just not totally set on the kid yet.

I doubt that any trade to NO. 2 for Harris is for Ricky Rubio. It has to be Thabeet, or James Harden. What purpose is it to get Rubio when he may never be as good as Devin Harris is now (who is young, a borderline all-star?).

Perhaps it's something like Mike Conley and No.2 for Harris.
