I understand some think other NJ fans are overrating Harris but I feel I really need to reiterate a few things:
1. Harris is about the 5th best point guard in the league.
Derrick Rose is not better then Harris. Sure he might be down the road, but he is not yet.
Mo Williams better?

Jameer Nelson?

Hell, I was browsing the NetsDaily forums today and saw someone say Raymond Felton is better then Devin. Really? Ban this fool.
BTW, that forum is hot trash.
2. NJ Nets were 3-10 in 13 games Harris missed this season. For all the talk of people saying Harris will never win this team anything, that he needs to avaerage more assists, that he needs to rededicate to defense, that he doesn't involve teammates enough, etc., etc., team wins need to be included as the forefront of how a point guard is valuable to their team.
3. Pass 1st point guards have rarely been the big part of championship winners, rarely, especially recently. You need a balanced point guard that can score the rock exceptionally well. Recent and overall history shows us this, along with Finals MVP winners. The glory years of Kidd have jaded people and seems to be giving people a hate and negative bias towards the modern type of point guard. Kidd was an anamoly, a HOF stud that dominated similar to Magic Johnson, just never had the insane supporting cast and the HOF coach that Magic did.
4. Harris has yet to reach his potential ceiling or peak, he is close, but is far from a finished product.
He just turned 26 and is going into the 3rd year he was really allowed to do his thing with limited restrictions.
5. Myth: Harris has proven nothing and is not a winner. The guy was a MAJOR piece of a team that went to the NBA Finals, made numerous playoff runs and a team that won 62 games in a season.
6. Harris is signed to one of the best non rookie deals in the league for an Allstar, period.
7. Another Myth: Harris is a selfish chucker that doesn't ever look to get teammates involved.
This team has one of the worst and youngest rosters in the league, with very little in the departmetn of scoring options. Harris was given the green light and told to take over, he basically had to. For all the lack of offensive options we have, those non-options aren't even elite defenders. What you are seeing of Harris is close, but not necessarily even his true style, it is just what is required of him in the recent past, present and possibly near future. The efficiency in which Harris is scoring in regard to his position and limited outside shot just proved how effective and impactful a player he is.
8. Even with Harris' disregard for defense last year, he is still a MUCH better defender then guys such as Mo Williams, Derrick Rose, Nash, Bibby, Augustin, Stuckey, Aaron Brooks, TJ Ford, Parker and the list goes on and on.
9. Harris seems to be his own biggest critic even though he is very confident, to the point of being almost cocky. This is a great thing for a star player. He has readily admitted his defense stunk, he took too many 3's and he needs to get his teammates more involved, and this as mainly unprovoked.
10. He is a high level competitor with a will to succeed and win. He says a lot of the right things, speaks well and seems to be a high character guy. Seems to want to get better and actually and truly enjoys the game of basketball and what he does for a living. He interviews well and doesn't shy away from the limelight, but isn't a media whore. Do not fool yourselves, guys like him don't grow on trees and a lot of "stars" in this league aren't this outgoing or humble, while still being confident and cocky.
