What do we do now?
This team is gonna be one of the worst if not the worst team in the league next year. While I don't mind Rebuilding and starting from scratch I still feel this team has too many holes to stop making moves.
Our PF situation is still mess even moreso now that we traded Ryan Anderson. We still haven't picked up a PG to play behind Dooling(who I suspect is gonna get major minutes at the 2 next year).
What should we do? Stick to the team we have now and make minor moves in hopes of picking someone up in 2010, or should we try to trade one of the many expiring contracts we have to pick up a player that can help us now.
Two minor moves I propose is picking up Farmar for a 2nd rounder(can we use the trade exception that way??, I'm not sure) that way they save up a couple mil and use that to help resign one of their FA's. The other is Marcus Camby for Bobby Simmons and cash consideration/Pick.
For a major move I wouldn't oppose us trading for Elton brand(while I'd undertsand why some of you wouldn't do it) or going after boozer one where or another..

Re: What to de now?
1 - we cant get farmar for a second rounder, and why would LA do that?
2 - We arent giving cash to anyone to, let alon LAC to get Camby
What I do see us doing is trying to move Swat and Boone maybe for an unguarnteed deal to save even more money and get under 15 guys on the roster. Perhaps Swat and Boone for Chucky Atkins? Just throwing it out there since his deal is only 500K guranteed.
Also - we are not spending any big time money on anyone like Boozer, Brand, etc - the writing is on the wall for this team to suck it up until we move to Brooklyn. Seem slike we had to add Ryan into the mix as a sweetner for Orlando to take on VC's contract. Not easy being a Nets fan.

I dont understand why people are so pissed we are going to be the worse team.
MORE PING PONG BALLS!!!!!
Anyway, just like last year people were underestimating this team. Look what happened.
Yeah we dont have VC pts but we have a young team that can turn out to be a Portland type of team.
RELAX PEOPLE!!!!!!!
I wouldnt add anymore unless Thorn gets an OFFER HE CANT REFUSE!!!!
If Thorn still wants a moose, I will also be ok with that. Try to pry those that are RFA. I am ok with that.
Adding too many new faces will give MANAGEMENT an EXCUSE to keep FRANK.
I DONT WANT THAT!!!!!
LET THEM LOSE, WHILE THEY DEVELOP!!!!!

Dude honestly this is all just a best case scenario.......
This honestly has Sacramento written all over it.
They had a god awful lineup on paper but had a surprisingly good season thanks to the emergance of a young talented player Kevin Martin, help from a good veteran Artest.
Instead of building on it they decide to trade the veteran, what they ended up with was one of the worst team's in the past decade, they hoped to get a good pick out of it but ended up with the worst one they could get.
Point is we're in the exact same position, we're gonna be one of the worst team's ever and there's a good chance the lottery will screw us up.

Re: What do we do now?
Didn't we fill all of those holes when we traded VC? A third string point guard (Rafer Alston) A a physical defending presence (Tony Battie) I know they are old but they will fill our needs. I believe our team has all of the pieces to the puzzle. The two problem we have is leadership and potential. Who will step up to be a great leader? Harris? T-Will? CDR? Brook? And we need our scorers to play in there potential We Harris, Lopez, Yi, T-Will, and Lee to score just to have a chance. However if our players steps up to there true potential we should be a playoff team next year.(assuming we play in our potential)

What do we do now? We sit on our hands as the cash-strapped Nets roll out their current roster on opening night and we pray that the young guys develop.

If we didn't overpay him, I wouldn't be opposed to him, however, a lot of us on the board have mixed feelings on how much he's worth.
I'm going to hold out judgement on this team until the end of July. If we don't make a move by then, I'll just assume we're shooting for the #1 pick next year and going with the team we got. If we make a move, let's just hope it's not something rash.

Sorry but I dont want anything to do with Boozer.
No THanks.
Harris Lee Williams Yi/Swat Lopez
Dooling CDR Hayes Yi/Swat Najera Simmons Boone
I think that is it.
If Frank can OPEN HIS FREAKEN EYES, he should play everyone at their NATURAL position(s). We should be OK.

Re: What do we do now?
what do we do now? sit back and hope that devin harris makes "the leap" to stardom becuase he's going to have to carry our offense. and if brook becomes a more reliable threat in the post i think we'll be right where we were last year, mediocre. definitely not "worst team ever" material.

Re: What do we do now?
As I have calmed down after giving Anderson away, Im starting to think that we will not be the worst team in the league next year - somehwere between 30-34 wins - Im saying this only if (1) our defense improves and (2) the young guys really make that leap that you hope for in their second year (3rd in the case of Yi). That being said, I think 34 wins is our cap, so sticking with management's logic (starting to get p*ssed again), we will trade Harris since we are not a chamionship contender.

Re: What do we do now?
If Frank was smart, just open up our offense. Turn it into a D'Antoni run and gun for the season. Yeah we'll win 20 games, but we'll at least be fun to watch. Worry about becoming a contender next summer.

We won 34 games the last two seasons. 1st with Kidd and RJ, last year with VC...I highly doubt 34 is our ceiling. Our ceiling is probably 27-30 and I'm being optimistic.

Nets are making the playoffs 09/10 season.I like this team as it is.NOOOO!!!!!!to injury prone Boozer whose gonna want waaaaaaaay to much money.WE should send an offer sheet for Milsap and when that doesn't work try trading for Landry.I can't wait for this season to start so i can watch this young team grow.Don't compare this team to that mess in Sacramento we have a good balance of players at every position simliar to Portland if your gonna compare.

He may not like being here, but Rafer Alston says hello.

Re: What do we do now?
When I look at this team I see a glut at PG (Rafer/Dooling are quite over-qualified for the 3rd PG spot) and at the wing (6 SG/SF before even counting Dooling). I also see Najera's negative contract.
I don't know if it's possible, but the one move I'd be looking for is package Rafer or Dooling with Najera for further cap relief. I'd also be willing to use Hayes, Boone or Battie as chips dump Najera if a team is looking for depth at center or the wing instead.
Also, as much as I hate pure salary dump moves, I would not be totally against declining Hayes' contract. Yes, he did a great job last year, but I can't blame management for not wanting to sink another $2 million into a team that will lose 60 games. Plus it's one less obstacle in the way to getting CDR, T-Will and Lee the playing time they need. With Simmons, Hassell and Dooling, there's already plenty of veteran depth there.
