Yi = Nets' starting power forward 2009-2010?

Post#1 » by dunleavyjr » Sat Jun 27, 2009 5:32 am

Do you folks see the departure of Ryan Anderson as a sign that Yi will be given
big minutes next season at the power forward position?

With much disdain, I have to say yes. As is there is no one that is going to take his place.
I still think Ryan's inclusion in the VC trade was almost completely political.

No, I believe they are going to play Najera 30 minutes per game and use Sean Williams as the backup.

Are you saying that the rebuilding Nets are rebuilding the team around the 33-year old Najera?

i think starting lineup will be:

pg- harris - no need to discuss

sg - Lee - was watching some clips on youtube. I knew he could shoot but he is a lot more athletic and can take his man off the dribble and get to the rim with authority

sf - terence Williams - I like his comment about being a "dog"

Pf - Yi - not asking for much - 13/7 with some consistency?? - If we move our offense away from dribble drive I think thi smay help him b/c he wont be standing around the 3 point line waitig for a pass - at least I hope

C - Lopez - no need to discuss

Key rotation guys -

Dooling - backing up 1 and 2

CDR - hope he gets 20 minutes/night - may thrive in up tempo game

Hayes - cheap vet option

Battie - I think he is underrated - probably most useful on chamiponship caliber club, can hit the open jumper - could see him being moved attrade deadline to contender.

Swat - Hopefully they give him some consistent PT if they want to run - if he proves he can play then he is a cheap option for '10 -if not, than bye bye

Najera - will probably get 10 minutes per game - one of the worst signings ever - hopefully he can be moved.

Should not play -

Alston - dont expect him to be on the opening day roster althought we cant trade him until 8/25. Not b/c he isnt a vaulable backup but becasue we may be able to get something in return for him.

Boone - Im hoping he doesnt play - b/c he shows no emotion and doesnt seem to care - also is a huge liability that he cant hit free throws

Hassel - seem slike a good guy but cant really ball.

Simmons- he can shoot but cant move

I'll make it it's just between the Vince trade and me going 0-11 in a couple of pickup games yesterday I was in some sort of basketball mental meltdown these last 2 days...

So our only chances of having a good season is if YI grows into his talent...........
Its gonna be a long long season folks.

I am a bigger CDR fan then T Will and I am a big fan of both, but I would prefer CDR comes off the bench at the 2 and 3 and very limited spot minutes at the 1. CDR is much better at creating his own shot then T Will and I think Lee needs to start at the 2.
Knowing Opie he'll start Simmons and play him 30mpg. :banghead:

My projected opening night lineup is:

PG: Devin Harris
SG: Courtney Lee
SF: Bobby Simmons
PF: Yi Jianlian
C: Brook Lopez

With so much youth on the court I doubt frank starts CDR at the 3, maybe Jarvis Hayes instead of Simmons (please), but I wouldn't count on it...

I hate to say I figure you're right on that lineup.
I would prefer Terrence Williams starts with CDR and Dooling the first guards off the bench, but if Jarvis and Lt. Dan are still on the roster best believe the Opester will go with them 1st.
