"The Nets are among the teams that have expressed interest in Celtics restricted free-agent forward Glen Davis, according to league sources.
New Jersey has their $5.8 million mid-level exception to spend as they search for a power forward on the free-agent market.
They are also interested in Lamar Odom and Drew Gooden, as well as acquiring Carlos Boozer in a trade with the Jazz.
Davis has also received interest from the Pistons, Hornets and Trail Blazers. The Celtics have said that they would match a reasonable offer for the young forward."
What do you guys think of Big Baby?? For me, I like his really unique build of being Really big and very fast. Also, great hardworker.

It's good we're interested but I'm almost positive the Celtics will match any mid level offer for davis. I do like him though and I was big on drafting him in 2007.

It's not that big of a deal, I mean the Nets are "interested" in acquiring Boozer as well, so we'll just have to wait and see if things pick up (HELL NO) or dwindle away (YES PLEASE).
The only scenario where I'll accept Big Baby coming to the Nets is if it's a S&T with the Nets sending out Najera (and someone else if it comes to that).

Dude is a scrub. He had one decent playoff series.
He's overweight and out of shape.
He's too short.
Shoots a terrible % from the field for a big and is love with jumpshots.
Plus, he'll be crap without KG threatening too eat his children everyday.
These are just the type of players to avoid, the classic scrub being overpaid after a seriously medicore season and one good playoffs series out of two.
I don't even buy into this article much anyway, especially without an actual source cited, other then, "according to league sources".

Knick Fan here, If your not careful you could have the next Jerome James on you hands.
That's not a good feeling.

Why are we trying to add players?
With big baby we wont be making the playoffs so what is the point of adding him?

Davis is in the best shape of his life now. He's lost a lot of weight. A poster over at spurstalk met him at the U of Houston rec facility and posted a picture a few days ago also noting how much weight Big Baby had lost.
The report is from Marc Spears who has great connections to the Celtics and around the league. He's got a lot of credibility. If he writes it, it's true.

I offered this idea on Boston's board and got mostly positive reviews so I would like to hear the reactions here:
Big Baby (S&T)
for
Keyon Dooling
Sean Williams
Dooling will play a very limited role now I would imagine with both Devin Harris and Rafer playing PG. And Sean Williams has been on bad terms with the Nets from what I have heard and now would see 0 PT behind Baby, Yi, Lopez, and Boone anyway. If you are higher on Williams than Boone, than he could be replaced in the deal as well.
What are your thoughts?

What you do? Say something bad about Gallinari or Chandler ? They don't play that.

One of the mods didn't like that I was driving the Brandon Jennings hype train and convincing Knicks fans that BJ was the guy the Knicks should draft.

Frankly, I have zero interest in having Big Baby eat up a not so small portion of our 2010/11 cap room. If you guys are interested in Dooling/SWAT though, would you have any interest in this trade?
Dooling, Williams and Najera for Scalabrine, Tony Allen and Gabe Pruitt.

do you guys realize big baby is a 20/8 player on good shooting %, in a starting role.
He did excellent in the playoffs. He has a jumper he makes like 80% of time, and can bang in the post.
Some call him a scrub. Truth is he would be your best big.

If Boston takes Najera and Swat or Boone off our hands in a S&T I'd be open to this, however, I do not think Baby is worth the full MLE.

I say No to Dooling for Big Baby.
I say Yes to SWat or Boone for Big Baby.
I also say make an offer for Big Baby around $3-3.75m. According to Shamsports, Celtics payroll is at $79m. How much money is their limit on matching Big Baby?

It's hard to say until we know what happens with Marquis Daniels. But considering the fact that they're borrowing from the league there luxury tax allowance can't be that much more than what they're at right now.
