Indiana wants to do a S&T with Daniels and the Celtics but need a 3rd party to participate. Would the NETS be interested and what are the offers/needs??

Get Najera and Sean Williams off our roster and we want an expiring contract in return.

You know the celtics can't match an offer over 5.3 mill

I thought they could but don't want to because it'd hit the luxury tax?

Personally, taking on Baby would eat into our 2010 salary cap. I don't mind him, but I'm not high enough on him to do that. I just want an expiring for Najera and Swat.

The Nets interest would be getting Najera off of the books. Ownership might disagree, but the consensus here is that we'd give up at least 1 of the group of Boone, Sean Williams, Jarvis Hayes, Keyon Dooling and Rafer Alston to do it. NJ also has a $3.75 million TPE, but I don't know how viable it is for ownership to add more salary.

Indy's issue is that they don't want to take on salary in a Daniels s&t correct? Based on the stuff I've read, let me throw this deal out there:

BOS Trades: J.R. Giddens, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine
BOS Gets: Marquis Daniels (s&t starting at $4 mil), Sean Williams and Eduardo Najera

IND Trades: Marquis Daniels
IND Gets: J.R. Giddens

NJ Trades: Sean Williams and Eduardo Najera
NJ Gets: Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine

Boston gets Daniels and adds some much needed depth up front with the uncertain status of Big Baby and Powe.

Indiana gets a youngster in Giddens who Bird seems to like, plus a $3 million TPE.

New Jersey takes on about $1.3 million in 2009/10, but gets out of Najera's 10/11 money.

Here's another potential version that could work. Before I get grilled by others on this board, I don't endorse this deal, but I think it's disturbingly realistic, since Memphis has done it like 5 times in the last two years. The Nets pocket $500K (minus a possible savings on an Allen buyout) and Ratner really does need a new Bentley.

BOS Trades: Tony Allen, J.R. Giddens and $3 million cash.
BOS Gets: Marquis Daniels

IND Trades: Marquis Daniels
IND Gets: J.R. Giddens

NJ Trades: TPE
NJ Gets: Tony Allen (cut) and $3 million cash

I'd be fine with this. Honestly, if this worked without Tony Allen, I'd be fine with it too. I don't want him taking time from our young guys.

Allen's only in there for cap reasons. I think he's a pretty solid player (fwiw he consistently beats Hayes in PER), but he's not especially needed here.

Maybe you can flip Allen elsewhere. Dallas would seem like a pretty good fit, maybe Allen for Shawne Williams and cash?
