Trade Idea: Q-RICH IS OUR SAVIOR

Nets Trade:
- Rafer Alston
- Jarvis Hayes
- Josh Boone
- Eduardo Najera

Heat Trade:
- Quentin Richardson
- James Jones
- Chris Quinn

Boston Trade:
- Brian Scalabrine
- Tony Allen
- J.R. Giddens

---

Nets Receive:
- Quentin Richardson
- Chris Quinn
- Brian Scalabrine
- J.R. Giddens

Heat Receive:
- Rafer Alston
- Josh Boone
- Eduardo Najera
- Tony Allen

Boston Receive:
- Jarvis Hayes
- James Jones

---

Nets Explanation:
- Though they take on more salary this year...
- They get out of Najera's 2010 salary

Heat Explanation:
- Lower salary (by $1.2 million or so)
- Jettisoning James Jones virtually neutralizes the effect of Eduardo Najera's 2010 salary
- They bolster the PG and PF/C positions.

Boston Explanation:
- Lower salary (by $500,000 or so)
- Add legitimate wing depth at minimal cost...

---

In all honesty I'd prefer the Celtics not add Giddens to this deal (because there's no playing time available for him on the Nets), however... if the Celtics keep him they take on roughly $500,000 x 2 (luxury tax) in salary... I also figured that with the addition of James Jones AND Jarvis Hayes Giddens would be redundant anyway...

Maybe a team like Minnesota would take on Giddens for Chucky Atkins? The difference in Giddens salary and the guaranteed portion of Chucky Atkins' contract is only about $300,000 or so which doesn't seem like too absurd of a price for a C level prospect.

I must say, this is pretty creative for what on the surface could look like lateral moves.
At first glance I thought there was no way Miami would do this, but then I realized they send out James Jones.
I hate losing Jarvis, but we have a lot of depth at the wings and could use all the cap space we could get, the only thing is I don't know that Riley does anything at all to help us get more of that precious asset ourselves, even if he improves his team and stays cap nuetral.
I still think something centered around Alston/Boone for Haslem works well for both sides, but this one is interesting for all parties for sure.

I guess the only thing is that even after this trade there would still be a bit of a glut at the wing position:

Nets Depth Chart After Trade:
Devin Harris / Keyon Dooling / Chris Quinn
Courtney Lee / Chris Douglas-Roberts / Terrence Williams / J.R. Giddens
Quentin Richardson / Bobby Simmons / Trenton Hassell
Yi Jianlian / Sean Williams / Brian Scalabrine
Brook Lopez / Tony Battie

*Giddens would be the Nets new Maurice Ager so is position on the depth chart is irrelevant.

Q-Rich came to the Heat because Wade wants him there. They aren't trading him.

QR already moved down to the 305 -- don't think he's going anywhere. Like previously stated, interesting proposal though...

Qrich on the right team in a good system can be a deadly player...you saw it with the Knicks or even the Suns....personally I think he needs less freedom on the court and he would put up more consistent numbers...he's a good fit for the Heat where he'll be in a better system and I would take him in the trade above for the reasons stated...but I dont think he's going anywhere...

Interesting idea but I'd pass. I think we are fine just the way we are. Whats another million on the cap space gonna do for us. We have a young team and Najara is a good mentor. You think we are really gonna go out and spend all this money next year. Not gonna happen so that extra million we save dumping Najara is pointless.

couldn't we just buy out Qrich after this trade if he really wants to play in MIA?

Hayes and Alston are both better than QRich.
