Netsdaily takes a look at the upcoming season and does a good job of listing each teams players and cap as well as their up coming draft picks (There is a buy out for Dooling, but not one for Najara).
This explains the cap
http://www.netsdaily.com/blog/?p=1517This explains the picks
http://www.netsdaily.com/blog/?p=1517The articles are there you just have to scroll down to read them you'll see.
Anyway I found them to be a good read it explains alot. I figured I would post these because I got in an arguement with some Knicks players on their board because they were bashing us again. Anyway after reading the articles I like where we're at and where we're going. I'm pretty level headed when it comes to basketball and I just don't see the arguement here (maybe it's just me). Also, I caught most of the preseason game on tuesday against the C's. I think we found are lineup they looked good together.
Harris
Lee
CDR
Yi
Lopez
I also caught a possible trade with them but I need to check if it works first and I'll post another thread on it. Might be a way to dump Najara but IDK if they bite.

you are not going to win on the Knicks board...its almost a worthless debate...a winless battle...you can ask a couple of members on here and they'll tell you you're wasting you time and asking for a trolling warning/suspension...
Letem bash...I never understood why the need to compare ourselves to the Knicks...IMO, we got over that hump years ago after beating the crap out of them---how many games straight, Playoffs, ect...now both teams are rebuilding and regardless of who believes who is doing better, whats the point...the majority of Knicks fans will ALWAYS bash...its a given...

Yeah I know I can't win but it's fun to argue. It was just typical stuff from them Harris/Lopez suck, they're better, they have NY, and their getting Lebron.
The trade I was trying to work out was gonna be something along the line of Alston/Najara/2nd for Big Baby and filler but I couldn't get anything to work. The C's could really use a back up point bad. Right now they are using House and thats not gonna cut it come playoff time.
The one I did get to work was Dooling/Najara for Davis/Allen/Giddens/Sweetney
It would bring more balance to our team but I would rather keep Dooling then Alston but oh well.

Let me put it this way if both teams strike out on every big name free agent who's in better shape?
The team with a talented PG - C combo, an assortment of wing prospects, and what will likely be a lottery pick?
Or
The team with two wing prospects, and Eddy Curry?

Nets are clearly the best team on paper set up for the future. We have a player in every position except PF that people around the league are very high on. As long as we don't have any setbacks, if neither team for some reason landed a big time FA, we're definitely the better team in the long run. Knicks do have some decent prospects, but we have an all-star PG, a top 10 true center who is only 21, and 3 highly regarded win players in CDR, Lee and Twill not to mention a bunch more draft picks and cap space.
We'll be ok. We just have to muscle through this season.

i think i speak for many on this board when i say "keep big fat ugly baby the f*** away from this organization!

^^Agreed.
I hate Big Baby with a passion.
If we are looking to marginally improve this season I would like it if we targeted Haslem, although that's probably pretty unrealistic as well.

Yeah I hate that whiner as well, it was just something that seemed possible given their need for a point and Thorn's interest in Fat Baby
I know it's only preseason but CDR looks like the real deal.

I swear if this team had a starting PF like Haslem, a much better backup PF/C like Turiaf and Yi was coming off the bench instead of starting we would be a solid playoff team.

I think it's more. This teams needs to gel together a lot more. I saw a bunch of little mistakes yesterday that could definitely be fixed with more time of the floor together throughout a season (mainly some off passes, offensive movement). Like the last few years, I still think we need a shooter off the bench. Lopez's post game is very good and will get better with time, but for the time being, he needs to work on it. I'm still not sold on CDR. I like Yi adding muscles, but I want to see him use them more. If we're to become a solid upper 4 constant playoff team, two things need to happen: 1.) The teams needs to develop a little more chemistry. 2.) We still need to sign a good 4 and then Yi lifts the bench depth. Then there's always 3.) A new coach, but we've beaten that to death and then some.

The Nets are rebuilding better and have a much better core in place (remember Lee and Nate are FAs). However in the Knicks' defense, NJ got a head start on rebuilding and they had better pieces to sell.

True. Knicks should've started rebuilding a loooooooong time ago though.

Yeah I think we would be a playoff team but not a contender. We really need that superstar we can go to down the stretch. I definately would like to see Yi off the bench, I think thats a better role for him. Hopefully we could nab a starting PF in this next draft. I wonder if Favors could be our next K-Mart. We would run teams to death out there with Harris, Lee, CDR, and Favors.
You know I noticed Lopez runs the floor pretty damn well for his size. Everyone calls him slow footed but he's really impressed me this preseason. He's by now means considered fast but he's got long strides and has been running the floor well so far.

You guys are nuts. We don't need a PF. Yi is a BEAST.
