2010 Draft Prospect Watch

There was no thread for this so I figured I'd make one.
Well if there's anything to look forward to this season, its going to be who we land in the lottery.
If we do end up with the #1, I think you have to seriously consider drafting John Wall despite having Devin. Derrick Favors is also a stud and we need a servicable PF badly, but Wall's giving me those D Wade vibes and that's hard to pass up on.
Other prospects I'm going to be looking out for this year:
Evan Turner
Willie Warren
Devin Ebanks
Ed Davis
Patrick Patterson
Demarcus Cousins

I agree. If you get the fierst overall pick, we go best player available, and that´s John Wall. If not, Derrick Favors is my top choice as of right now.

Let's not forget Greg Monroe.

Greg Monroe isn't worth a top 5 pick...

My top choices in order
1 - Wall
2 - Favors
3 - Turner
4 - Ed Davis/Monroe
I agree Monroe is not a top 5 pick. He's similar to Lopez in his body type and foot speed. I would rather have someone more athletic to man the PF spot. Two slow footed bigmen would be a problem because most PF's in this league are face up guys and Monroe is built better for NBA C then PF I think.
Lopez actually surprises me when I see him run the floor. That was suposed to be his weakness but he runs pretty good for his size. D has more to do with lateral quickness and neither has the ability to defend quick 4, which most teams have now. I don't think they fit well together on D at least.
Right now I'm calling for Wall, Favors, or Bust

We are in desperate need of a franchise power forward, depending on how Favors plays his freshman year will depend on my choice. But as of now it's tied.
1. Favors/Wall
But still, wouldn't it be nice to have a franchise PG in his prime when Lopez is in his prime? Man.....

Wall no doubt when you have a top 5 pick you go for the best player available no questions asked.
If we do get Wall we either move Harris to the SG spot or trade him.

I love how Wall is annoited the best player in this draft without playing more then a game against Div.II competition.
I am not saying he won't be, but let's wait and see.
BTW, Evan Turner is just beasting so far, even though it's against crap competition.
His rebounding numbers are redonkulous.
He's such a complete player and just silky smooth.
I think he absolutely makes himself a top 5 pick by the end of the day.

Considering how deep next year's draft will be, I highly doubt "or Bust". And with the Nets having the cap space to sign a max free agent (s), they're going to be in a pretty good position than most lottery teams.

My optimal situation for this team would be to land a top 2 pick, trade it and Williams or Lee, Yi and Najera for Paul and a bad contract, trade Devin for the rights to Evan Turner and sign Bosh.
Lot of wishful thinking there.

I'm a twolves fan...and I think we are in similar situations, as we will probably be competing for the top pick haha..
Here is the guys i''m lookin at.
1. john wall
2. derrick favors
3. Evan Turner
4. Al- Farouq Aminu ( keep your eye on him, he's gonna blow up)
Like some of you have stated if you get #1 you gotta go Wall even if you have Harris. We got Flynn/Rubio...but if we somehow get #1 , I want wall, he has franchise talent written all over him.
Good luck to you guys during the season, and I love draft talk, so I may chime in again.

I personally don't like Aminu much at all. He has no real skillset, he's just long and extremely athletic. I think he has low BBIQ and he can't shoot or handle and he isn't even a very good rebounder. Nope, I don't like him.

My observations from the UK game vs Miami OH:
John Wall can certainly get to the line, only thing right now that is a major weakness is his jumpshot.
There was one play where he went 1v1 with his man and pulled up for a jumpshot only to get blocked by his defender, who was smaller than he was. He jumps like 3 inches off the ground, it'll be interesting to see if he changes his shot to get more elevation. On his game winner, he elevated ridiculousloy high over his defender.. now this is how he needs to shoot.
Demarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson both showed a very nice touch around the basket. I think Patterson is the better prospect at this point though.

Patterson is better at this point for sure, but that maybe due strictly to experience. That isn't to say that Pat isn't a really good player, cause he is, but Cousins has all the potential in the world.
Just everyone keep in mind, when guys come back from injury, we maybe a lot better then advertised, a lot better. Might go on a run and wind up anywhere from the 4th to 10th overall pick.
Also keep im mind, Dallas is one Kidd or Dirk injury away from the lottery. I would never wish it on them, I actually pull for them in the West, but it must be said.
With that said, here are some guys to keep an eye on this season for both picks and in between and the 2nd rounder(I'll leave out the obvious of Wall and Favors.):
Evan Turner
Greg Monroe
Paul George
Terrico White
Malcolm Lee
Ed Davis
John Henson
Jerome Jordan
Xavier Henry
Patrick Patterson
Demarcus Cousins
Craig Brackins
Willie Warren
Larry Sanders
Sylvan Landsberg
Manny Harris
Donatas Motiejunas
Jan Vesely
James Anderson
Scotty Hopson
Tyshawn Taylor
Devin Ebanks
Al-Farouq Aminu
It's a lot of players but these are all guys to keep an eye on.
