Okafor?

Lately there have been alot of threads on guys who are on the block, so here's the newest one.

Okafor for Battie/Najara works in the trade checker.

Okafor has 4 years left after this year at about 12 mil per. NO is looking for expirings might hav eot throw in the Dallas pick to get them to take Najara but I wouldn't mind cause it's gonna be a late 1st and dumping that will also save us cap room along with dumping Najara (who is useless)

I haven't check but if we could still offer a max deal after this trade I might do it. This is the key to the trade for me.

We could then go with the BPA in the draft. (Wall, Turner)

We would have a solid guy to entice free agents and along with a huge rebounder which we need and he can score in the paint.

He's 28 and a double double machine,

Do you like him along side Lopez, I do. Thoughts?

The only reason to trade for Okafor is if he's an add in with Chris Paul and the Nets are sending out Lopez. Honestly, that's the only way I would trade for him or want him.

Lopez will be 300 times better than Okafor will ever be. Brook already better than him offensively and he's only in his 2nd year. Okafor's contract is too long and too big and he can't really play the 4 effectively and I'm not about to trade Brook or cut into his time to ever merity bringing okafor into this team.

Trade for him now? No.
In the offseason? Maybe.

You have to keep looking at the big picture here.

are you crazy?

No way Lopez is in package for Paul and Okafor!

Paul and Okafor for Harris, 2010 Draft Pick, as many expiring that match salaries. I am willing to include another pick whether Dallas 2010 or Next years pick.

Really, man? That's not going to get Chris Paul. Get out of here with that. Plus, I never said I would trade Lopez, I'm just saying the only reason why I would get him is if we had to trade Lopez for Paul.

I am looking at the big picture we need a PF who plays tough defense and rebounds. To go along side Lopez. Yeah 12 mil per year might be a little much for him but he doesn't need touches on offense and would fit nicely with Lopez. My only concern is if we get him can we still offer LBJ, Wade or Johnson the max. If the answer is no then we pass on Okafor and wait it out but if the answer is yes then why not take a shot on him in February. We should wait until the trade deadline at least before we consider at least.

A lineup of
Harris
Turner/Lee/Williams (whoever)
LBJ
Okafor
Lopez

Is a great lineup. Okafor is only 28 so he's got another 4-5 good years left in him which is perfect because his contract then expires when he should start to decline.

I might be considered wrong, but...honestly, Okafor isn't that good. His defense is overrated. The whole "he's a four, not a center," is only because he's short (in NBA terms) and doesn't have much reach, not based on anything dealing with his game.

No way we are trading for Okafor..yes, hes a good rebouder, but his contract´s too long and we need a guy that can be also a threat on offense...a guy like Boozer, imagine a Lopez/Boozer frontcourt.

First off, he doesn't fit well with Brook at all. Offensively you need to pair Brook with a shooter or a player with good face up offense to spread the ball. It doesn't make sense to put an inside finisher like Okafor right next to Brook when Brook is already a main threat inside. Defensively y,ou need to pair up Lopez with an athletic off-ball defender with good rebounding skills. Okafor is a great man defender however, so is Lopez. Also Okafor is not that athletic and have too short of an arms to be a good help defender. It does not make sense to have both players in one team.

Also the line up you mention is not good at all that team look like it will just be a normal above average team. Defensively that team will have a hard time defending pick n roll, fast power foward, and help defense. Offensively that team will have a hard time for Lopez(he will get double in the post by the lack of offensive shooting) and fastbreaks (Nets will have one less man running the fastbreaks).

In all if you have that team it will be very limited in both ends of the floor so it wont work
