idk who i like.... I want somebody who is like a larry brown or scott skiles...someone who the players respect and will play hard for...and when they suck I want to see the coach yell at them and see fear in the players....I feel like Lawerence coached harder than the players played and Kiki accepts losing.

Rumor has it that Petro wants to make a splash with coach and GM. At the top of his list is Jerry Colangelo and Coach K. Jerry would be the president and Coach K would be the coach and GM.
What do you guys think? I like Colangelo as pres and Coach K as coach, not sure how Coach K would do as GM. I wonder if we could keep Thorn around as like an assistant GM or special advisor.
Anyway I think I would be all for this, it's about time we had a big time coach. IDK if Coach K would leave Duke though, he said he wants to finish his career there but the big market, big money, and big time cap space might be enough to pull him away.

If Coach K wouldn't leave Duke for Kobe and the Lakers, he isn't leaving for a team that might not be able to beat the Blue Devils.

IMO there is more pressure going to coach the Lakers then the current Nets.
Playoffs was expected for the Lakers and that salary. For the Nets, 25-30 wins in the first year of coaching would be the benchmark. Not as much pressure and an easy task. Then you consider a group of young players. No true star and egos to deal with. This is completely a different situation.

While the Lakers is the better organization and would be a more lucrative job, coaching Kobe isn't really a luxury. Besides the year they wanted to hire him, the team was TERRIBLE. They missed the playoffs and had Chris Mihm and Chucky Atkins as starters.
I laugh at those that think the Nets coaching position isn't really worth while. We have a top 4 pick, cap space, a future all star center and we'll soon have a multi-billionaire owner. I'd say the Nets coaching position will be one of the most sought out come this off season.
This season has been miserable, but come June, we'll be better off than most teams in the league. And while Coach K is an extreme longshot, the fact that this team only has 4 wins is irrelevant for the reasons stated above.

Yup, agreed. I don't see the point of it at all for him. To prove what? No one needs to see him in the NBA to prove himself as a coach. If it was me I'd just keep my incredible job at Duke and ride it out.
I'd love to get JVG.
