How do we get 2 top ten picks?

Our pick is top 4. What do we have to give up to get gsw, clips or even minny's pick. Do we even have the tools?
I am sold on getting Wall. The kid is a freak!!!!
But can we offer say Yi, Boone CDR and a second rounder to gsw for thier pick?
Is it too homerish? Do salaries come into it ( I think they do)

Secondly Can we package Lee and Mav's pick to move up into the top 15.

I'm asking this cos I want

Wall
Cousins
Monroe

Hoping to sign Gay

What if we threw Harris out there for a first rounder?

I know alot hinges on the lottery draw. But I'm just spit ballin

JJ and Rich have done more mergers this season than Gordon Gekko.

So merge or lock if you like boys.

Harris for Ford/1st

This one keeps popping into my head. We don't lose salary cap space and Ford can still play and he expiries in 2011. It all depends on Wall obviously.

Also Harris for Conley/expiring/1st. could work

I would push hard for the Pacer deal if we landed Wall.

This thread is going to get locked in about a millisecond by jj, but I'll reply anyway...

If we HAD to pry a 1st from the Warriors, we'd have to offer Yi, CDR and their GSW1st returned to them. They'd obviously have to fall from their projected lottery placement (#3) t oeven consider this deal, and I'm not sure I'd want to do it anyway.

I think the difference between picks 1 and 2-4 is about normal, between 2-4 and 5-9 is huge, and between 5-9 and 10-25 is relatively small. I think there will be 5-7 guys picked in the late 1st-round this year who end up better than mid-late lotto picks, similar to 2007 (Chandler/Fernandez/Brooks vs. Yi/Brandan/Law/Wright).

I'd rather see if we can land either Ed Davis, Ekpe Udoh or Patrick Patterson with the Dallas pick, and not have to spend resources to get, say, Greg Monroe, who IMO is only marginally better as a prospect than the other three names I mentioned.

Assuming we get the #1 pick, if Favors started to slide to #10 or so, and some team was willing to trade his rights, I'd be up for wheeling and dealing. I think he'd be a slam-dunk alongside Wall, literally and figuratively. But other than him, I don't see anyone SO amazing that he's worth spending assets to move up, when a comparable talent can be found later, and may even end up better than the lottery guy.

this draft is not deep enough for us to be worrying about a second top ten draft pick

Fair call guys. Cousins has DC written all over him. Heck I think he was born in the same town as him!!!! I want him. Could John Calipari legacy live on with the nets?

Me neither. However, if you can get that pick (currently #5 and almost certainly top 9) for Harris you do it. Especially if you win the lottery.

now the difference here is, even though its draft talk, its a topic that does deserve its own thread because its never been talked about in depth...and to be honest is great question to poll to really see how many fans may favor this front office strategy...

As a Warriors fan, it's becoming increasingly clear that Monta is going to get shipped. If the Nets can help get us OJ Mayo, you can have our pick. Problem is, you're probably gonna have to take Monta.

I guess it'd look something like this.

GSW In: OJ, Thabeet, Yi, Mavs 1st round pick (via NJN, or whatever...)
GSW out: Monta

Mem in: Devin Harris, CDR
Mem out: Thabbet, OJ

NJN in: Ellis, GSW 1st round pick
NJN out: Devin, Yi, CDR, Mavs 1st rounder

Plus any fillers that would need to be added to make it work under the CBA.

I know Monta eats a sh*tload into your capspace, but he is still only 24, and he'll be coming off his best season. Plus, I could be wrong, but I think you guys would still have about 10 million or so to play with during the summer.

Like the OP, I'm just sorta spit-balling here.

I'm confused based on the post above. Is Golden State giving up a pick in here and if so, is it going to NJ?

If the answer is yes, I pull the trigger on this one. However, I can't see Memphis being especially interested in this one. But then again, I couldn't believe they offered Mayo/Thabeet for Monta to begin with.

Nice... I agree though that dealing with Memphis can complicate things because that franchise is a bit of an enigma. Nobody ever seems quite sure as to what exactly is going on over there.

Any other endorsers of this kind of move?

I would rather deal with Memphis and cut GSW out in that scenario. We get Mayo and redirect Thabeet somewhere for a lotto pick, or just let them keep Thabeet and take their pick and maybe Conley.

I just wanted to double check. Otherwise, I'd just as soon cut Golden State out of the deal.

For one, Mr. Evan "Mutha-bleepin" Turner.

Then there's a plethora of bigs, lead by Cousins, followed by Favors, Monroe, Patterson, Ed Davis, Motiejunas, Udoh, Elias Harris and Aminu.

... For whatever it's worth, the Golden State pick is sure to be much higher than Mephis' (I think we're currently projected at 3, but I could be wrong.)

Yeah, I'll admit I'm surprised you're willing to throw this type of pick into the deal. Considering my doubts about Memphis doing it, I wonder if it's more realistic if the GSW pick goes to them and MEM's pick to NJ (assuming they don't make the playoffs)
