"The Nets are an interesting team," said Lee, sounding more like Phoenix's Amar'e Stoudemire and Memphis' Rudy Gay who claimed they would not be scared off by the Nets' hideous record. "They're a clear example of a team whose talent level doesn't reflect the record.

"If statistics work out, they get the No. 1 pick," Lee said, "They have a great center in Lopez, an All-Star point guard, Devin Harris, great athleticism with wings Chris Douglas-Roberts and Terrence Williams. They could have a big turnaround year next year if they get a good free agent and the No. 1 draft pick. It's going to be interesting which direction they go."

What do you guys think of the Nets potentially going after Lee? What do you think of a potential Lopez/Lee lineup?

I've never been against it... The Nets would have to be sure that he'd be fine with less touches on offense though.

The one thing I'd like about having Lee is that he always brings energy and this team needs that given how poorly they start more games. Playing him at power forward instead of center would also make his defense a bit more acceptable.

I love it...defense improves with experience and if we need him to improve beyond being a avg defender while being great rebounder, that sounds good to me...I definitely feel he can be a an above avg defender when defending his position/PF...He has improved his offense every year, so no worries there...

I like it, as long as we're not overpaying. He'll fit great with Lopez and he'll be defending his natural position so I'd hope his defense would be less terrible.

Is it possible for the Nets to acquire Lee, sign a high draft pick and sign LeBron?

^Depends on a) how high the draft pick and what we do with the Dallas pick, b) how much money David Lee signs for, and c) if Devin Harris and/or Keyon Dooling is still on the team. It is possible, though, not very likely since a lot of things would have to go the Nets' way. (In terms of being able to sign them, not actually signing them since Lebron is staying in Cleveland)

LeBron staying in Cleveland is far from a certainty to me. If he's going to leave I think the one place he would want to go is Brooklyn, not necessarily with the Knicks. I've said for a while that LeBron will end up in Brooklyn.

The only question for me was LeBron might re-up with the Cavs for another 3 years then go, but with the lockout/strike coming up I don't know if LeBron will want to sign a short term deal. It might force his hand to leave now.

I'd be thrilled if that was our lineup next year. I think D. Lee would be fine with less touches becasue he is a very good passer. I just think he is trying to help his team win and thats why he's shooting so much. That sixth man off the bench could be Manu and I still think we need another brusier up front like a Gani Lawai type with our late 1st and maybe another with our second. We have plenty of guards.

The best thing I like about that team is how unselfish that team would be, none of those guys are ballhogs I think they would all move the ball and play both ends of the court.

I like his heart, I like him as a person, but...I don't want him on this team. Lopez needs an athlete next to him, which is something that david Lee isn't. If David Lee has the speed/strength/hops/flexibility of Josh Smith, then yeah, he'd be a great pick up. Unfortunately, he doesn't.

^^ David Lee is plenty athletic. . . No he's not Josh Smith but he won a dunk contest in college. He's a premier rebounder, an excellent finisher around the rim with both hands, an above average and willing passer, has a good mid range shot, and is a good teammate.

Yeah the flashy athletes look good but basketball is about more then running and jumping. Look at how many Stromile Swifts couldn't cut it in the league. Lee has the skill and the IQ to get it done.

^Lopez has an athlete next to him right now. What he needs is a basketball player. If Lee can improve defensively this would be an ideal fit that would still allow the Nets to go after a max free agent.

Sure, he's athletic, just like everyone else in the league, but he's not the type of athlete that Brook needs next to him. He needs someone that will be able to get down the court, he needs someone who can guard the weak side, he needs someone who can step out and guard the more perimeter oriented pf, someone who knows how to rotate on defense...David Lee cannot do that, and while he has been improving since he's entered the league, he's still not good on the defensive end. But Josh Smith is a basketball player. That's the difference: Stromile Swift and Tyrus Thomas' are athletes, Josh Smith is a basketball player. If I wanted a bust, who could only run and jump, I would have said, "Brook needs a bust who can run and jump next to him." Josh Smith, however, is not a bust.

Honestly, I see us drafting a pf, so I don't see the Nets signing a pf, regardless of who it is.

I honestly don't think Tyrus Thomas is a bust, Chicago just never really knew how to use him, I wouldn't be entirely against pairing him up with Lopez to be honest...

The reason why I don't mind Lee though is that as mentioned before he's a workhorse, more importantly he also has a pretty good mid-range jumper which would go a long way to opening up room for Brook to operate down low.

The problem with pairing some jumping jack with Brook is more often than not those guys have no perimeter game so in the half-court they tend to be pretty useless.

Jersey Gen I hear you. I would love to put Josh Smith next to Brook but the fact is there just arent that many guys like him. Do you want to draft Favors? He can be that weak side shot blocker but offensively he will crowd the paint for Brook. Obviously I want Brook to develop so we need someone to give him space to work on offense and someone to be unselfish and finish for him when he gets doubled. I really think Lee fits that mold. No he's not the shot blocker we could use but that won't hinder Brook's development. Look if we can get a Josh Smith clone I'm all for it, but there's just not one available. As for Tyrus Thomas I'd take him over Yi but D. Lee is a much better player then Tyrus Thomas. If we can't get D. Lee I'd settle for Thomas (unless we get stuck with Favors in the draft).

Oh, I know, Josh Smith is the second biggest freak in the league (or third, behind Lebron and Dwight). I was just using his skill set and player type as a marker. Favors? Eh, like you said, he would crowd the paint, his offensive game is just not there. The perfect player in my mind for Brook would be an combination of Favors and Monroe--Monroe's skills and size with Favors' freakish athleticism. Obviously, that's not possible, unless you know of some sort of mad scientist who is Professor Farnsworth-esque.

I know you'd like to see a big free agent signee at SF, but I'm a T-Will fan and believe he's going to be starter material. He's hitting the three with a little more consistency this month, he'll be a better player after the summer.
