I was wondering what you all would think of a trade that would help the Nets attain more 2010 capspace, and help the Jazz contend. Here's my basic idea:

The Nets would give Utah: Kris Humphries, the DAL 1st (currently #27) and one of our young swingmen (Chris Douglas-Roberts, Terrence Williams or Courtney Lee)

The Jazz would give part of the Harpring TPE, and the NYK 1st (currently #8).

This would be a draft-day type of deal, where the Nets would hope to pair a guard at our pick (Wall/Turner) with a bigman at NYK's pick (Cousins/Favors). It would also free up $5-6mil in salary, enabling us to pursue a max FA plus another in the 10-11mil range for starting salary. I hate to jinx these sorts of things, but imagine a roster that looks like this:

Harris, (Wall/Turner), James, D. Lee, Lopez
(Collins), C. Lee, Roberts, Jianlian, (Cousins/Favors)

The fact that we would get to taunt the Knicks with their pick is just added incentive! So, what would you say?

Since it is a draft day deal it won't help the Jazz contend this year. And I rookie would help as much if not more than any of (Chris Douglas-Roberts, Terrence Williams or Courtney Lee). In other words whoever the Jazz could pick would be better than the player they are receiving so no benefit to them. No deal.

If we want to help the Jazz contend I would send them Harris. Have wiliams and Harris share the back court. Harris already is realizing that he isnt a PG. When Twill is in the game, harris gives Twill the ball to distribute.

ADDED

I want no part of David Lee. NO PART of paying him $10+ million.

I beg you not to post that on the trade forum because that deal is pretty putrid for Utah. Your asking them to give up what is likely a top 8 pick for a collection of pieces where its very possible that none would start in Utah.

If the Jazz want a wing this badly, they can just draft Xavier Henry at #8 and be happy with life.

We would need to send Harris as a minimum. Otherwise this just plain sucks for the Jazz.

It's going to take a lot more than that to get the New York pick... I don't think you really looked at this from both sides, ecuhus.

Honetly I like what your thinking is but Utah won't do that trade. Realistically the only way we get another lotto pick is by trading Harris to IND for their pick and Ford. But I wouldn't do it unless we landed Wall. At that point I would go with a PF Favors 1st then Monroe. Cousins is more of a Center and wouldn't fit well next to Lopez. With that siad seems highly unlikely this all works out for us.

This is exactly what I was thinking the other day. I was thinking this as I was watching the GA Tech game yesterday with Favors playing pretty nicely. He is actually the ideal fit next to Lopez as an athletic, weakside shotblocker and great rebounder. Plus a power player. I would LOVE it if we could somehow manage to land both of them. But also, if Favors is off the board, Monroe would also be a very good fit next to Lopez with his well rounded game.
