CBC has posted on their most recent news
The youngest son of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke has died from injuries sustained in a car accident on Friday, the hockey team announced.

Brendan Burke, 21, was fatally injured in a two-vehicle collision in Indiana.

Mark Reedy, 18, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., also died at the scene of the afternoon crash, the Palladium-Item newspaper in Richmond, Ind., reported.

Nice post that I wasn't expecting from you.

RIP Brendan.

God, that's awful...I read a couple articles about his relationship with his father after he came out, and they were fell into that rare category of story that weren't mere fluff pieces, but really had an emotional impact. I'm sorry that this kid won't have the chance to fulfill his promise. My sympathies to the Burkes...it's not often that I get that kicked-in-the-stomach feeling with the death of someone that I don't know, but that happened here.

Very true, I admire Brian Burke for not turning his back on his child and actually saying he wanted to participate with Gay Pride Parade in Toronto in support of his son. R.I.P.

Since when does Weems bring any kind of defense to the court anyway?

not to go off topic, but just because dagger calls 'em like he sees 'em doesn't mean he's a soulless, emotionless jerk.

I understand you want to increase traffic on the Leafs board, but there is probably a better topic to move no? This is a death of a Gm's son in a tragic accident and something most fans on here would be interested in knowing about. Moving it to the Leaf board doesnt help it.

The Raptors forum still has a link to this thread. Leafs talks needs to stay on the Leafs forum for it to grow.

Back on topic, very sad news. Dagger said it best so I really don't have anything to add.

Defiantly, I feel very bad for the Burke family. It was one of the main reasons he came here; to be closer to his family in Boston. That terrible loss tonight means nothing. I’m surprised he was on CP24 earlier today taking calls from the fans.

He was on at 12 pm. The accident happened at 3pm and I dont think the family was informed until the a couple of hours ago.

Terrible news, even with the "gay son" back story. I don't know how many of you have children - I know the articulate Yogi doesn't - but the last thing a parent wants is to have to bury their own kid.

The very last thing on earth.

You got that right. I couldn't imagine. Condolences to his family.

Whoever mentioned about the leafs getting blown out as well, needs to spend a few more minutes thinking about it before they click the submit button.
