Anyhow, he says that Kovy isn't a target b/c Burke plans on using the money on others (could already be used before July 1). He mentions Finger going to the minors and the Leafs having around $13 mill in cap space to play around with.
Eklund (Hockeybuzz ,not credible) recently came out w/ an article mentioning RFA that could be targets and said that the Leafs might give an offer to Bobby Ryan, David Perron, and maybe someone else (can't recall). Ulmer mentions Bobby Ryan as a possible target as well.
Do you think Burke is willing to risk MORE picks and going after a RFA?
It soured his friendship w/ Kevin Lowe and giving up the picks for Kessel doens't look like a good deal to say the least. It suprises me that Burke would even contemplate going after a RFA (again).
The good news is that the $13 million will be spent and Ulmer mentions Draft day as possible a day that the money could be spent even though the article is about being players on July 1.
Second, and more likely, things are in place for a mighty exchange of players, probably at the entry draft. Again, follow the money.
