And what experience does he have. This is like Raptor fans wanting Dr. J

Newflash - it's not about winning in Toronto. It's about keeping the fans happy enough that they keep contributing billions of dollars to the cash cow that is MLSE.

A hiring of Killer as the new GM would seem in line with the other decisions that have been made to keep the fans happy ie Domi's 2 year contract.

Also, there are plenty of cases of GMs without experience having success in professional sports.

Therein lies the problem with this organization. It shouldn't be about appeasing fans just to get money out of them. It should be to build a winner and make money from the fans.

Just because it works sometimes where GM's with no experiance succeed, doesn't mean it's the best route to take. If you want to give Doug and Assistant GM role and see how he does, fine. But no way should, the position that should be coveted in all of hockey, be handed over to someone with no experience.

This is the biggest problem, the organization shouldn't have to go out and look for a GM, people should be lining up to take the job. But with the way they've run this organization for 40 year's, you can't blame anyone in the hockey world for not wanting the job. And if it's true that Burke approached them about taking over and was shunned because the price tag was too high, well that just says it all.

For a team that can no longer flex it's financial muscle on the ice, may as well flex it in the front office and have the best staff possible.

Is he really the problem or is it more the philosophy of the entire hockey operation. I believe, he is largely responsible for the last two year's especially. But until the mentality changes from doing whatever is necessary to be a playoff team and if we win a cup, great, if not, oh well to let's build a contender, nothing will happen for the positive for this organization.

The leader of the organization sets the tone and ensures the proper business plan and philosophy(s) are followed/established. If that doesn't prove to be successful or the leader doesn't control those aspects he should be canned.

True rebuilding begins at the top and works its way down through an organization.
