The Toronto Maple Leafs will start the regular season without one of their key forwards, as centre Kyle Wellwood had additional surgery on a sports hernia on Saturday.
The team received word early Friday evening that extensive testing had discovered an issue in the same abdominal area that was surgically repaired last season
Now this leaves the Leafs with no number 2 centre and they're looking to fill the void from within. Names being mentioned are Steen, Kilger, Antropov, Stajan and even the likes of Gamache.
For me, looking at how the lines look, the Leafs still lack size up the middle, somewhere where the Habs have always felt the void of a big centreman.
Question: Do we think about bringing back Jason Allison/Eric Lindros (unless they're way outta shape) to fill the void left by Wellwood. The Leafs don't know how long KW will be out, so picking up an extra NHL body could help.
