Leafs call up Justin Pogge

Post#1 » by Crowned » Fri Jan 11, 2008 7:52 pm

After posting a 2-8-2 record in their last 12 games and falling to 14th place in the Eastern Conference, the Toronto Maple Leafs have called up goaltender Justin Pogge

Pogge could get the start in San Jose on Saturday but no decision has been made.

Excellent decision. The kid wanted some time in the NHL, give him a couple games. However, I don't want him on the team for too long, he simply isn't ready for full time status in the NHL. I see no problem with a brief stint with the big club.

The soap opera that is the 2007-08 Leafs never ceases to amaze.

I guess we won

I did not want to call up Pogge either because I do not think he is ready. With that said, I am really looking forward to seeing how he plays. Rask is playing really well in the AHL so I need Pogge to pan out or I will seriously doubt if we will turn things around anytime soon.

I don't really care what Pogge wanted, this isn't the time to throw him in the fire. The whole point was to ease him in, not bring him up and see if he can weather the storm. Don't like it, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I'm not impressed, i want him no where near this mess.

If he doesn't completely fall flat on his face and scar him for life, then he'll only learn how to make excuses because they will be handed to him from the get go.

Lets face it, the media will be focused on the lack of defense infront of him rather than his goaltending and those excuses will be handed to him whether he wants them or not.

This is a desperation move by this management that will not make the difference at all

Bang on guys. Bad move. Just bad. You can tell the pressure is on. The other night the fact the Toskala played demonstrates that Maurice is at his wits end. Second guessed himself badly.

Well Pogge had a nice plane ride. Do they have a clue down there? At least he is back playing where he belongs for now and not in front of that demoralized lot.
