What if Mats decides to sign a extension, would you then be open to trading Kaberle to a team that needs a defencemen? Kaberle would bring back the most in trade out of anybody on this team and some people think now would be a good time to trade him seeing his trade value. You could get some good offers
Svatos, Shattenkirk, 1st rounder
Carle, Bernier, 1st rounder
Both San Jose and Colorado could really use a defencemen going into the playoffs and have alot of valuable young players that could come back this way.
If Sundin Stays, does Kaberle go?

With Stralman coming into his own I think they should try to get what they can for any of the rest on D also.
Also if we dont win the the Lottery and get Stamkos, I think the next most realistic thing is us drafting a defencemen seeing after Stamoks lots of people think Doughty, Schenn, Piertangelo and Bogosian are the next best players and they are all defencemen. If we were to trade Kaberle to San Jose for that Package I proposed our defence next year wouldnt look all that bad.
McCabe Kubina
Carle Stralman
Coliacovo Bogosian/Schenn/Pietrangelo
Really young corps with tons of room to grow and major upside.

That is what I was thinking exactly. And those 4 at this point look like a great fit. It would be great to have an opportunity to see them all play and I will make an effort to look for them.

I could honestly see the Leafs keeping Sundin and Kaberle, but trading guys like Antropov, Gill and Blake.
The problem is your not going to get much from trading those 3. Antropov would bring you back maybe a decent prospect but all Gill and Blake would bring back is prolly some sort of 3rd rounder on up. If Sundin doesnt go I think its a certainty that one of the defencemen has to be dealt. This setup just isnt giving us nearly enough for the amount we are paying plus we actually have some decent depth at defence in Coliacovo, Stralman, Kronwall, White, Vorobiev.
Id be dissapointed if both Sundin and Kaberle was on this team after the deadline because in my opinion one has to be traded to truly inject the sort of youth we need that would come back in either of there deals.
