Why would Carlyle have left the Kessel line there after they had the chance the previous shift? And if you must leave them on with an offensive faceoff, then they most certainly should have come off once the puck was cleared... but they didn't, 2 on 1 the other way, game over.

Phaneuf is gonna just haunt this team with his stupidity until they get better D men. We had lots of chances the past two games. Our speed is way too much for Boston to handle. Can't wait to see Reilly and Gardiner consistently in our top 4.

what an irresponsible pinch by phaneuf. always thought the guy is a 2nd pairing d-man at best the way he fumbles the puck in his own zone, can't quarterback a powerplay for sh*t, and is oblivious to the puck too often as his man dupes him into getting tied up. he oughta cease his captaincy and hand it over to lupul. captain material off the ice? sure. but on it, no chance in hell with the amount of mistakes he makes. gunnar has covered his ass all season long.

really pleased with the way the boys battled this series though. boston is the better team, they ice the best line (krejci), and their defense doesn't make moronic mistakes like the one we just witnessed. would've been nice for reimer to actually steal a game but that's not to be expected. also send out the search party for kadri, guy has been a total non-factor for 3 weeks now.

So many chances, but realistically, Boston had tons of good chances they didn't convert on too due to poor D. They didn't steal the game from us.

Gardiner is blowing my mind, him and Reilly in their prime could be something else

Is Reimer always that bad at handling the puck? There were at least 3 near disasters on what shouldve been routine plays.

In general, I always get nervous when goalies go outside of the net to handle the puck. NHL players are way too fast and skilled for you to get away with that consistently. I've seen way too many goalies get burned that way.

Anyway, this series is probably over. This game wasn't a huge surprise, it kind of encompasses the Leafs season. The Leafs have always had the firepower. Scoring is not the problem on this team, it's the defence. We simply aren't a good defensive team, and much of that does have to do with our D men. Phaneuf is a problem on this team, as long as he's the our top defenceman. Reimer is an okay goalie, sometimes very good, but he's rarely ever brilliant. I expect them to get blown out in Game 5.
