Not sure how reputable this is, so take it with a grain of salt:

Colborne+BOS 1st is fine by me.

EDIT: Kaberle on the ice for Leafs practice this morning  :dontknow:

This whole ordeal is approaching it's conclusion (it seems):

TSNBobMcKenzie: It looks as though Tomas Kaberle has been asked to waive his NTC to go to BOS and there is every reason to believe he will waive it.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Barring any last minute complications, this BOS-TOR trade should go down. Colborne and BOS's 1st? That's the rumor. We will see.

Edit: Deal is done, trade call being made. Colborne, Boston 1st, conditional draft pick for Tomas Kaberle.

TRADE: Kaberle to Boston in exchange for a 1st round pick, Colborne, and conditional pick...pending trade call

I never understood why Burke wanted Kaberle out but whatever. Hopefully Colborne works out. Two first round picks at the end of the first round and a pick in every round of the draft next year would probably help them move up too.

Love the return. I mean obviously Kaberle is better than those players, but in our position Colborne and a 1st is an excellent deal, I thought it was going to be Wheeler and 1st

Lupul, Colborne, Kessel 1st line looks real sexy.

I've seen some Antropov comparisons for Colborne based on not using his size effectively. To be honest, he does seem to have pretty high bust potential. I'm happy to add another prospect for sure though, especially a big forward. Still interested to see what that conditional pick is.

Between Joe Colborne and Nazem Kadri, I take Colborne. If he's in the deal, even if nothing else comes with him, it's a huge win for Tor.

Colborne is a potential #1 center, you jump on this opportunity if possible for Tor. He's one of the better center prospects in hockey.

That's a lot of value coming the other way. As usual when you're selling premium assets, Toronto wins that trade cleanly in straight value.

With the Gardiner and Colborne acquisitions, Leafs system goes from below-average to possibly top 10 system.

If Burke and Colangelo do this rebuild right....

Colborne, Garidner, Bos 1st, Phi 1st - I'm impressed, we're adding real value

Semi-related note, Bruins needed to make a move to free up cap space for Kaberle and this is it:

TSNBobMcKenzie: Not official yet, but BOS trading Wheeler and Stuart to ATL for Peverley and Valabik. Pending trade call.

Not bad for them, picking up Peverley in a situation where they were desperate to cut $$.

So conditional pick is a 2nd if Kaberle re signs or if Bruins go to the cup. Wow.

Burke is picking up some nice pieces for players that did not fit in long term plans.

Still need a centre for this year (and maybe next as Colborne seems pretty raw).

Gotta be impressed with the assets we're compiling at this point, really hope guys like Colborne/Kadri pan out. On the back end, we desperately need a puck mover for the long term and here's to hoping Jake Gardiner can be that guy.

Looking good, Kaberle will be missed no doubt. However, as Burke has been saying getting younger and stock-up on picks. We can even move up in the first round in the upcoming draft by trading our two first round picks.

Good job by Burke! Getting a 1st round pick for a rental is hard enough, but Burkie got us Boston's top prospect (not playing in the NHL) and a 2nd rounder if Kabby resigns with them (which I think is likely considering how much they gave up for him).

Burke whiffed big-time on the Kessel trade, but all other trades have been good.

Well... I think that Burke feels that he will get a greater return by trading Kaberle(picks, prospects) as he is an expiring and he considered one of the best puck moving defensemen in this league. Who knows, Kaberle may choose to sign with us in the summer :P

It's offcial. Deal has been completed.

The Leafs today sent Kaberle — yes, he agreed to waive his no-trade deal — to Boston for prospect Joe Colborne, a 6-foot-5 centre with Boston’s AHL farm team at Providence, a 2011 first-round draft pick (but not the one Toronto sent to Boston in the Phil Kessel trade) and a conditional pick, thought to be a second-round pick in 2012 if Kaberle resigns with the Bruins or if Boston makes the Stanley Cup final this season.

Great memories.

Kaberle was somewhat of a rarity in the Toronto hockey market. Sad to see him go but he deserves a shot with a real team.

Glad Kaberle is finally gone he somehow manages to avoid blame through all the sucking.
