As per @TSNBobMcKenzie. Jeff Carter has been told he's been traded to CBJ.

Update:
Wow RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: As per @GMillerTSN, LAK acquire Mike Richards from PHI for Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds. Done deal according to Gord.

I just heard that the Leafs contacted Philly re: Mike Richards asking what they'd want in return, and Philly never returned their call.

Correction- Philly wanted Kadri and Kulemin for Richards (which I'd do, and I'm a HUGE Kulemin supporter), the Leafs said they'd consider it...and Philly never returned their calls.

John Michael Liles to Toronto for 2012 second rounder (acquired from Boston in Kaberle deal)

Solid pick up. We still need a front line Center though. And how much more are we going to spend and acquire on defense?

Liles completes our defense, so no need to worry about that during FA (I remember all the speculation around Liles at the trade deadline). Just need Brad Richards now :)

Some interesting guys that will be hitting the UFA market in Michael Repik, Anthony Stewart and Matt D'Agostini. These weren't qualified so they'll be free to sign with anyone on July 1st.

Also, I've seen a few people on the interwebz mentioning Max Talbot as a good fit, anyone think he could be a target for us to play on the 3rd-4th lines?

I'm also really interested in seeing what Anthony Stewart will command, would be an interesting addition for sure. He's got a relationship with Rick Dudley and grew up in the area, so I think he'd be a viable option.

^ I think Talbot would be a nice fit in our bottom 6, replacing Tim Brent. If we can get him for 1/1.2 mil or so, he'd definitely be worth looking at.

Tyler Kennedy, Jiri Tlusty, Matt Gilroy, Nicklas Bergfors and Dan Carcillo are some other guys that will be hitting the UFA market. Interesting to see Gilroy back out there after the incredible hype around him coming out of BU.

Add Christian Hanson, Brunnstrom and Brayden Irwin from our end. They didn't receive a qualifying offer from the team, and will become UFA's. I'm surprised quite surprised with Hanson, especially considering the Leafs qualified Greg Scott.

Well there goes Brooks Laich, 6 years, $27M to stay in Washington. That's pretty good money for him and he likely wouldn't have gotten much more on the open market. Unfortunately, the options at center past Richards get thinner in FA. Tim Connolly is really the only guy left who is capable of putting up 60+ points and even he's a major risk with injury issues. In his last 4 seasons, he's put up 194 points in 237 games (.82 points a game), unfortunately he only played those 237 games which is a huge concern.

If we don't get Richards then I could live with a year of crap and draft a potential franchise changer next year.

I wouldn't mind Connolly on a shorter deal, perhaps a 1 or 2 year contract. He's got some offensive flair to his game, and could easily slide down to the #2 center position once we find one over the next year or two. If he stays healthy, he's a good player.

Yes it is Eklund but interesting none the less:
Rumor: Dustin Brown to Toronto (e3)

Also in the same link:
The Wild have put Cam Barker on Waivers

Wasn't he pretty good in Chicago? I wonder what happened to him.

lol at Eklund. And yeah, Cam Barker has fallen off incredibly. He had a 40 point season in just 68 games (pretty much a 50 point season extrapolated) and showed potential to be a solid defensive player too.

Howard Berger is reporting we'll be interested in Mike Rupp come July 1st. Would make sense based on his style of play, but don't really care much either way.

Rupp isn't really an impact player, so I'm hoping we don't over pay for him on July 1 just so Burke has a shiny new player to show to the media hords.

Dustin Brown is intriguing, but again he's not an impact center, so it all depends on what they are looking for in return.

It's looking like it's Richards in FA, or we're going to have to pony up in the trade market. I wouldn't mind Spezza, again depending on what it would take to get him. And who knows whether Ottawa would even consider trading him to TO.

This year's FA class is horrible.

Rumors have us interested in Max Talbot but he probably wants 8 million/4yrs barf.

I'd like to sign Stamkos to an offer sheet at the highest tender like 12 mill and see what happens.

^According to Dreger we attempted to acquire his rights (Talbot), but his agent said he wanted to experience July 1st. $2M is about what he's looking for per season and although I wouldn't mind Talbot that's a high price to pay. The Stamkos situation is getting interesting but I just don't see him going anywhere, nor do I see Burke being involved in any way, shape or form.

If Stamkos becomes available (somehow), you do whatever it takes to get him. I don't care if you throw the 4 firsts at him, or a Schenn/Kadri/whatever package. If you need to overpay, you do it. We're talking about one of the best players in the NHL, and he's what...21? He won't become available, but one can dream.

If I'm the Leafs, I'd take a serious run at Erhoff. He'd command somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5 million, but you'd need to find a taker for Komisarek. I think you can find a team that needs to hit that cap floor to take him, if we added some sweetner in there. Imagine a top 4 of Phanuef, Schenn, Liles and Erhoff...rounded out by Aulie and Gunnarson? That's a nice defensive core.

If I'm Burke, and strike out on Richards and Stastny, I'd look at signing Erhoff to a long term deal, Connolly to a short team contract, and someone like Talbot to play on your 3rd/4th line.

lol a few sources reported Talbot's right had been flipped to Toronto and it was even on the TSN website for a bit, but Bob McKenzie and others have now refuted that report.

Edit: So according to McKenzie now, the Leafs were given an exclusive window (48 hours) in which to negotiate with Talbot and were unable to get a deal done.
