Man, as much as I like Reimer, and have been pulling for him to be our #1 the past 3 years, Bernier's just got this "calm" to his game in net that leaves you very comfortable

sss but the pk is still awesome. feels good to collect a 4 spot in b2b road home openers. i guess i should head down to the acc now and camp out at mlsq so i can save a prime spot for saturday night's game

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

He's also got way better rebound control than Reimer that's pretty fresh to see.

Reimer seems like a good guy and one you'd want to see succeed but I've wanted Bernier for a few years and was so excited when we got him. He's the goalie that I could see being here for 10 seasons or more. Reimer seems more like a guy that could have a solid run but not a long-term answer. He's got some serious hole's in his game.
In saying that, both played really well in the first two games.

Re: Leafs 2013-14 Regular Season Thread
Things were ugly there for a while. Luckily Bernier was lights out.
Bozak 17/28 FO... solid percentage
Still waiting for Kadri to find his grove
Ranger was making great plays one second then looking awful the next
Phaneuf looked gassed by the third but in general solid.
Kulemin beast game on the defense.
Kessel quiet but scored the goal when it counted and that's what he's there for.
Bolland rock solid (finally someone who gets to the damn net)
JvR had opportunities - looks a little bemused but confident about this season for him.
Not enough superlatives to describe Bernier.
Worried about Gardiner, though; he only played 14 mins and Claryle hasn't been shy to public his opinion about him the past week. It's still early, but I hope this isn't starting to smell like Grabovski all over again.
Anyone going to the opener on Saturday? They're definitely going to get a standing ovation coming home.

Re: Leafs 2013-14 Regular Season Thread
The one thing pissing me off about Phaneuf so far is he's too slow to move the puck. He's looking to control the puck before making a play, almost indecisive and next thing you know he's fanning on it and the opposing player is right on top of him. He does a pretty good job fighting off the guy but if he'd just make a decision to move the puck quicker he wouldn't be putting himself in that position.

I know they said he twisted his knee, but had anything else come out about Fraser? Wondering of we're gonna get to see Rielly this weekend.

Reiley's in, Fraser is out.
not sure how this affects the cap (positively or negatively). may make for a bit of a mess if Reiley stays beyond his 10 games.
while wins are wins, and back-to-back wins on the road are really good, the Leafs have a relatively easy schedule to start the season. no overly challenging teams until mid-October, where there are a few tough games. then things get light again (playing the Oil twice? then the flames?).
October is easy.
November is deadly.
December gets tough as well.
you have to hope for October hay in order to make the playoffs. 2 wins against cusp-of-playoff teams isn't the highest water mark, but the B2B road wins is nice.

Leafs continuing their road warrior ways from last year good to see. Let's see if they can be
better at the ACC this year. Ottawa at home Saturday should be a tough test.

Ottawa is playing @ Sabers tonight so hopefully the back to back will help the Leafs
I still would like to see Bernier start against the Sens, but I dont see that happening.

Reimer's starting and that's a shame but I have no doubt that by the new year Bernier will secure the starting job. Hopefully Reimer is good enough throughout that we can trade him for some pieces, maybe even a first rounder from a team that could somehow be in the top of the lottery.

Kuleimin's out for 2 weeks. ankle bone chip.
Leafs has zero depth at forward. this should be entertaining. Jerry D'Amigo time?

Re: Leafs 2013-14 Regular Season Thread
Just 2 games in so far and I'm kind of concerned with Gunnarson's play. I was a huge supporter a few years ago but his game has really taken a nose dive. He hasnt been making the simple but consistent plays he is known for. His skating seems to have taken a step back, as it seems he's been losing his footing far more often then I remember. Hopefully its just rust because we really need him to perform next to Phaneuf.

The Mason Raymond signing continues to be outstanding so nice to have a competent GM
for one of the Toronto Sports teams for once.

lol and here comes Bernier as Reimer gets pulled in the first home game. Yikes. True, the Leafs have stunk getting the puck out of their zone, but the first two goals were on Reimer. Soft.
Also, boy does Ranger ever SUCK!!! Where's they find this guy? One **** up play after another that his teammates bail him out of. Rielly's first game has some mistakes, but still Ranger sticks out with inane plays.

Mason Raymond will be a major fan fave soon if he's not already. I liked him a lot in Vancouver, he couldn't get past a certain role with that team because of the guys in front of him but he always contributed. He was friends with my cousin out there too so kind of paid attention to him.
I'm happy to see him contributing. A great value signing. I'm still not ready to give Nonis a ton of credit overall cause some of his moves were still headscratch worthy but this was one of his finest moves. Hopefully, we can keep Raymond long-term after this.
Reimer's back to his normal self giving up horrible rebounds. No control ever.

Raymond's hand/eye coordination and skating are ridiculous. Could not be more pleased with this player pick up
Bolland - what's not to like?
Lot's of sloppy plays on the defense though. Third period, let's go..

Funny that while watching the end of the 3rd, I thought to myself "Funny that things are looking up for MLSE and the 2 Brians (Colangelo and Burke) are no longer even here.."
