Armstrong is back for tomorrow's game. Colborne got sent back down to the Marlies which I agree with. He still needs more seasoning and he needs to put on some weight. Lombardi is also apparently not far away from returning. I hope that doesn't mean he get's sent down cuz he's been playing really well recently. Cut all 3 of the useless plugs (Dupuis/Rosehill/Orr) please.

Leafs looked gassed. They have played a lot of games lately. Why did they have 6 days off at the start of the season then 4 games in 7 nights?

Is this the start of a horrible slide? We'll see. I'm not convinced that being a low playoff seed means you have to have no weaknesses. Plenty of teams slide into the playoffs with horrible weaknesses.

told me what exactly. you pegged the leafs to finish 13th in the conference buddy, so maybe you'll have to wait until the end of the season. but anyway, it's mid-december, and the leafs are in the middle of the playoff hunt, like myself and several other posters expected. no one ever said during or after their hot start to the season that the team was a cup contender or anything outlandish like that, so i don't quite get your need for gratification.

i could have easily said the same thing to you two weeks ago after they won 4 of 5 games and were playing for the division lead, but i didn't because i understand that busting out the "i told you so's" after a 4-5 game stretch of wins/losses is premature, and are the type of reactionary comments we're used to seeing on the raptors board.

they pick up 6 out of 8 points on a 4-game roadie, lose twice to the bruins - who have been dominating the sh*t out of everyone, get a big win in NY, lose the next night (picked up a point), and then lose to the capitals on the road. and you want to play the 'i told you so' card?! they are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, a typical stretch for a low-seeded playoff team, and you want to say 'i told you so", even though you projected them to finish near the bottom of the conference?! questioning why people are getting excited over this team to boot?

maybe when the team is in the dumps like years past, you can finally play your "realistic leafs fan" schtick without any disturbance.

I thought we played well the last couple of games. Gunnarson's crapped the bed in OT. Loss. Then in Washington we carried most of the play, but Joey Crabb had two dumb penalties that cost us the game.

lol what a rebuttal, just magnificent.

skim through the thread and you'll realize that the only time i got "emotional" was in response to your irrational, reactionary comments, that not only myself, but other posters disagreed with. but otherwise i'd like to think my posts offer an honest perspective from a fan who is just happy to have a leafs team finally capable of making the playoffs.

I'm not liking the no Saturday night games. Normally my saturdays are all scheduled/revolve around the leafs playing at 7 pm.

Well they played Friday night against the Capitals. Don't forgot UFC 140 was at the ACC this past Saturday night so that probably had something to with it as well! :P! :)!

The Leafs are not as good as the standings in the first months of the season indicated. They just got lucky and happened to win more than they lost.

You can't be at the top of the league in offense and bottom of the league in defense and expect to win. Just ask the Raptors of two seasons ago.

Cam Ward beating us tonight, not the 'Canes. One thing I can say is that the Leafs are clearly not bottom of the table any longer, as we clearly outclass a team like the 'Canes.

Good win for the Leafs.

Though, they should limit the amount of times they give back the puck (and allow a player to roam with the puck) in their zone.

I hate games like last night...Where you completely dominate a team but don't have a secure lead. Those ones hurt the most when you lose. Glad the boys came thru with a W

Blame the league. Changed it up in 2008 and there was a limit on the number of times a team could be on national tv.

Hearing the Leafs are in on Eric Staal. Hes having a bad year but hes clearly a star. Wouldn't sell the farm for him though.

Burke once embraced the so-called “top-six, bottom-six” model. But nearly five years after he won the Cup in Anaheim with this philosophy, he says the model is outdated as the game evolves and enforcers are marginalized.

“The top-six, bottom-six model is already dead in less than five years. Now it’s a top-eight or top-nine, and bottom-three or four. And speed rules now. It’s all about foot speed.”

Shame he changed his mind this year. We could have kept Versteeg then.

Versteeg just wasn't good here, I have a hard time believing he would be doing what he is doing in Florida here. I'm fine with people dwelling over the Rask, Steen, or even Seguin trade, but Versteeg is a special case. Still think it was a excellent return we got.

As for Staal, he has a 8.5 million cap hit. That's huge, and he's having a horrendous year. With all that said, he is a legitimate frontline #1 center. Players of those type are incredibly rare and hard to get. I wouldn't trade the entire farm for him but a combination of Kulemin + Kadri/Colborne + possibly a 1st/Biggs/Percy, I would do. They'd likely ask for Schenn as they are thin up front.

What would you give up for him? He's exactly the kind of presence this team has been missing and he's still young. If he is available I think Burke should do everything to get him. As well as Bozak has played so far this year, how many people actually believe he's a top line centre?

Reimer has been bad coming back from injury... soon to be 1-4. While a streaking Jonas now goes ice cold sitting on the sidelines. Shouldve rotated them if Reimer wasent at 100%. The Leafs arent as good as their hot start made it look but if this continues, they are going to drop further than even most people expected.

Return to Toronto Maple Leafs
