I am on the pro side when it comes to getting Mike Peca and some of
the things in the above article are the reasons why...
To be fair to those on the con side the above article lays it on the
line and it is hard to disagree with why we shouldn't...
For my money at 1.25 million I think he's a bargain...

it's true he inherited a 104 point team, but he inherited an aging team under a new world in the NHL. It's just as much Quinn's fault as it is JFJ's IMO

i agree with the aging part but come on, he hasnt really shown any great things of his own...i'd much rather quinn, dont want him either...i still then JFJ is not cut out for this job....but hey, this is a rumours thread, not a thread to bash him....

A 104 point team with limited value...he was placed in an ideal situation for a pre-lockout team.
He's an inexperienced GM that's had to completely re-arrange a roster to effectively work in the new NHL. I don't blame him, I blame the Leafs for not acquiring an experienced/vet GM.
He's slowly making up for past mistakes. It'll take much more to inherit more trust from fans across the city, but atleast it's a start.

I don't know if it's been mentioned at all, but I've heard a few rumours on the fan590 the last couple of days.
1) Kubina is headed to Chicago for (possibly) Tuomo Ruttu. Should be some word on this by Monday.
2) Raycroft is headed to LA for Camillari who won his arbitration case.
All these free up cap space to sign
1) Mike Peca
2) Curtis Joseph
Don't shoot me I'm just repeating what I've been hearing on the fan Hockey at noon show.

what the scenario rumoured actually is, is that the Kings are very intertested in Raycroft. They are waiting to hear what happens at Cammileri's arbo hearing and if he doesnt get awarded to much, would like to make a deal for Raycroft. This would then open cap space for the leafs to the sign Peca and Joseph.
at least this is how Eklund is saying the scenario could play out.

Why on earth would the Kings trade thier young, leading scorer for a below average goalie? Makes no sense whatsoever.

You didnt read it correctly.
The Kings are waiting on Cammaleri's arbitration hearing, if he gets awarded a contract that they are expecting, they will have the cap to make a trade for Raycroft where they take on salary, but if Cammaleri gets more then they are expecting, they might no longer be interested in trade. This was never a Raycroft for Cammy trade, Its just the Cammy arbo decision will sort of send a domino effect on what they do afterwards in adressing there goaltending situation. Trade would most like be Raycroft for a prospect or young player who costs very little.

Hahaha, it got locked but...here's the link:
http://www.globesports.com/servlet/stor ... ockey/home
Peddie and MLSE chairman Larry Tanenbaum have been searching for a senior advisor for months. At the same time, Ferguson has still not been offered a contract extension, even though one was promised by the end of June, according to the GM and others connected to MLSE.
A second source said if Bowman takes the job with the Leafs, there will be a complete housecleaning. This would include Ferguson, head coach Paul Maurice and others in the hockey department, according to the source. Ferguson has one year left on his contract at $850,000 (all figures U.S.), while Maurice has three years left at $750,000.

My God!, if true it would be a complete overhaul and I was just warming up to JFJ. He has made some pretty fair moves of late and as I pointed out in another thread got Toskala and Bell for virtually the same price that Lowe paid for Penner 1st 2nd and 3rd picks, which I think is a steal in retrospect...
Hope Scotty, at least reviews the situation before he slashes and burns...
He was a great coach but as a top exec., can he oversee an entire hockey team, in a place that lives and dies with the Leafs and hopefully with the Raptors soon and maybe pick up a few pointers from Colangelo along the way...
Maybe we can get some European Hockey players to fill out the team...Oh! wait we already do hmm...

If it means giving Bowman the power to get rid of those guys to get him here, than screw it, do what ever is necessary. I still have my doubts that this will happen but ever since they said they were looking for an advisor, Bowman is the guy I've wanted to take over.

Exaclty, Bowman is easily one of the most repsected hockey people in the world and I wouldnt at all mind his cleaning house which is rumoured.

Ive read that when Bowman was orginally approached about the job he said he wanted to clean house and bring in his own coach/gm and the name who came up about being coach was Larionov.

Seems it's just a rumour ...
