So the Leafs become the second team after the 1974 Blackhawks to go an entire month without giving up a power play goal. They re still the worst penalty killing team in the rankings because they re not taking many penalties but you would have to say they ve turned it around. No surprise they ve done it at a time when they re getting good goaltending.

Today's loss was really disappointing. Still have time to get it on track...

No playoff team looses games like this! I'm really pissed, and our schedule isn't that easy anymore. We gotta make the playoffs or I'll be the most pissed leafs fan in the world.

kind of been warning about this all year.
just wait if or until Lupul and Kessel cool down. if they do, kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Winnipeg had a bad January but is decimated by injuries (missing 2 of its top 6 forwards, missing its top d-man). you get Burmistrov and Kane and Buff back, they hang in and beat the Florida teams on this road trip and you have a great playoff race.

Florida came back to earth. If they keep on crashing, they're out of the playoffs. But if they play 0.500 hockey, they can get the last spot.

Washington. Who knows what will happen there. You assume they'll play well under Hunter, but they can still crash and burn.

So the Leafs have to watch it. a crappy January by Winnipeg's resulted in the Leafs having an 8th place spot. If the Jets have a healthy February and play winning hockey...the Leafs may be toast.

^Dude, Grabbo's one of the hottest players in the league right now. The Leafs have been playing consistent hockey for about a month and there's no shame in a shootout loss to the Penguins.

Even in a lose I have to say that was one of the best games of the year. Exciting to watch. Lets see how the team bounces back

Another good game against Pittsburgh tonight. The Leafs played very well in the defensive zone, and Reimer had a good bounceback game after sitting on the bench for awhile. You have to go back with Reimer next game after posting the shutout.

Should have been 2-0, but splitting 2 games with the Penguins (and grabbing the extra point) is a decent way to start post All-Star break.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

Think we deal or keep Grabo?

I'd prefer to keep him unless if he's a piece for a better player but I don't see him being a key in any of those types of deals.

He's really grown on me the last couple years and worth keeping IMO. Solid 2nd liner.

TSN twitter said it averaged 1.4 Million viewers for last nights game against the pens! That's nuts.. Considering its a wednesday night game. I wonder what the viewership is going to be when the leafs take on the habs february 11th on the night they honor the great Mats Sundin!

I say we keep him, but he is a UFA, so depends on what he wants money wise

I read on Spectors hockey that his agent was in town, so possible extension talks could be on. I wouldn't want to go higher than $4.5 but I think somethinga around 3.5 - 4 would be a good. Seeing how much we're paying Connolly, it'll likely be above 4.

Burke's contract negotiations seems to be a strong point though. He seems to get a pretty fair price for current members of the team. His FA signings tend to be not as great, but that's the nature of the open market.

It's the crucial stretch to the playoffs. Every single game is important from here on.

I hope Burke can get a guy like Kopitar, M.Richards, Getzlaf or someone that will make an impact. I wake up every morning and hope that something happened, then I come home and hope something happened. Hopefully that day comes.

A win tonight in Ottawa would be huge. We've got 3 games in hand on them and are only 3 points back, so winning today will pull us within a point and if Philly does us a favour and beats NJ, we'll pull ahead of them too. The Devils have Philly, Pittsburgh and the Rangers coming up so this is the Leafs chance to get comfortable in a playoff spot with some wins against some very beatable opponents (Ottawa, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Philly, Montreal are our next 5 with the Oilers and Habs at home). We absolutely have to come away with at least 3 wins from the next 5. Even beyond these 5 games, we've got Calgary and Edmonton in our next 2. Just an incredibly crucial stretch.

I'm so pissed! Everyone won that we needed to lose. This is a must win IMO.

They needed this win, let alone this big win, AND this huge game from Reimer. I was worried about a second half funk but I think this leads to a surge. I think the Leafs get 8 points from the next 5 games. I hope this leads to the wheels falling off in O-Town too.
