The organization lost a ton of respect from me with how they handled the Kaberle situation. It doesn't help either that the coach is incapable of saying a positive thing about anyone. Not saying you need to coddle Kabs, but try to find some middle ground between him being a POS and amazing.

if Toronto can get goaltending anywhere near what Giguere's career average save percentage is (.913), it'll make a huge difference in their season. The Leafs bottomed out in terms of team save percentage last season at just .892, last in the NHL and well off the league average of .909.

Here's the math on how various improvements in save percentage could help limit their goals against (assuming they allow the same number of shots against, roughly 2,445, over a full season):

Actual numbers from 2009-10: .892 save percentage = 263 goals against on 29.8 shots against per game
Slight improvement: .897 save percentage = 252 goals against on 29.8 shots against per game
More of an improvement: .902 save percentage = 240 goals against on 29.8 shots against per game
League average: .909 save percentage = 222 goals against on 29.8 shots against per game

As expected, goaltending is going to make or break this team this year. They were the 11th ranked penalty killing team after the Phaneuf trade and Giguere trade (Sjostrom is a great penalty killer) and the Power Play was in the late teens after the Phaneuf trade as well

The whole Kabs thing has been embarrassing but when it comes to stripping the A the Leafs aren't alone...Modano and Marleau with both stripped of the Cs and I assume it was the organization's call, not the players. This is something Cherry touched on in CC last night and I agree...team captain and assistants should be chosen by the team. Everyone has their own opinion on what a Captain should be but for me its more about being a leader for their teammates and sticking up for them more then anything else.

The powerplay definitely needs work...it looked amazing against the Grand Rapid Griffins (Detroit Red Wings) but bad against MTL. I was at the game against Detroit and there is NO WAY they make the passes they were making against a real NHL PK. We have the right players (Phaneuf, Kessel, and Kabs) for a successful PP but they got to be smarter moving the puck. The biggest difference between the NHL and junior are the special teams so they should've been dominating on the PP against Detroit like they did.

Or because we were missing Cammalleri, Markov and Hamrlik? Just maybe?

I was really disappointed with Gunnarsson though. I thought he was really underrated for you guys last year and he looked like **** on skates tonight. Komo did too but that's nothing new. Ever since Lucic beat his ass he hasn't been the same player.

As for Kaberle, I've already stated my opinion on him a few times on this board. He's the best player on the Leafs and should've been the guy to get the C. When you compare his value to the amount he actually makes salary wise, he's one of the biggest steals in the NHL.

Hamrlik, lol

Maybe you need to go to the Montreal board.

Ignorance, lol

Maybe if you knew anything you'd see that's there's a helluva difference between having a line of Markov-Hamrlik on the ice in comparison to Picard-O'Byrne.

How did I expect something more intelligent from you? Eller was one of the better players on the ice last night, I could care less about Halak.

Habs dominated in the 2nd and 3rd period. The fact that 3 of our main players were missing didn't help but it,s not an excuse, MTL should have won this game.

I guarantee you that MTL will finish over TOR at the end of the year, much better offense...

I hope Spezza doesn't play, we could definitely take advantage of another injured lineup to jump to a 2-0 start with 2 huge wins against our biggest rivals.
