Alright the trade turned out not to be true, but it's not done yet. Leafs are shopping both McCabe and Kubina

You got me all excited.

If we were to pick, I'd keep McCabe and trade Kubina, hopefully he can get it done.

No faith that JFJ can trade Kubina or McCabe.

100% guaranteed they both return next year.

Rumours that the Leafs might go over the cap to get the players they want

^^^They are going to have to go over the cap because they mismanaged their cap situation yet again!

MAS, who do you believe the Leafs 1) want and 2) will realistically pick up?
I keep hearing Blake or Smyth, but are Kariya and even Bertuzzi on the radar?

Blake hasn't gone away since the season ended. But they're probably gonna try to get Smyth first. if they can't, then they move on to Blake and maybe kariya.

I don't know if Karyia wants to come here because he's always been the type to stay away from the spotlight.

I'm not entirely sure if we're into Bertuzzi or not though

Exact quotes from some of Ek's sources

On Smyth: "Leafs trying to clear cap room"

On Toronto: "Big things. A huge weekend ahead. Perhaps the biggest in ten years"

On Raycroft: "Look to the Blues or LA as a possible destination. CUJO is 75% heade to to Toronto to backup Toskala."

^^ Exact quotes from Ek? But isnt he just an anonymous person that suppsedly has inside scoops? i know he is reliable but i wouldnt get too excited, i'd just end up disappointed knowing JFJ.....however i still have hope :P

hope their is a big weekend ahead (pretty much a day and a half left unless you count monday due to long weekend) also hope we shed cap (KUBINAAAAAA) and what would we possibly get for raycroft from them blues/kings?

Here's my bet, Leafs will overpay for someone and not get the return expected when signing the guy. My biggest fear is that we're going to get Blake and overpay.

This has to be one of the most mediocre Free Agent crop and a lot of second tier player's are about to be paid like superstars.

That TSN extravaganza was pure hilarity. You know when "The Reporters" are breaking down the impact of players wives that the idea of a FA show is becoming a little unnecessary.

I don't think I've ever heard the word "sexy" used that much in two hours on TSN.

I was actually hoping noone would sign during their show just prove how overly covered this sport actually is. I mean, they could have done a one hour special before 12 on who's available and have a one hour show later in the evening for all the signings should they take place.

yeah I agree 100%....but I did enjoy Pierre McGuire always saying the exact opposite of what Doug MacLean was saying about players etc.

Where's the Basketball Free Agent Frenzy anyways....those contract are alot more sexy (10-15 mill range for guys like Carter etc) than the NHL's contracts anyways..
