Leafs sign MacArthur

Post#1 » by bryant08 » Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:38 pm

Leafs have signed Clarke MacArthur to a 1 year, $1.1M deal. I'm very pleased with that signing, he's just 25 years old and put up 35 points last season.

From a stats standpoint this looks good but I have never seen him play.

Can't complain at 1.1 per. Solid move, but I always thought he'd be a much better NHL player.

Looks like he's doing ok so far. At least for that price.

He apparently always starts the regular season fairly hot.

WIll be interesting to see what happens to the team when he cools off.

MacArthur even with the goals hasn't looked all that amazing to me. He seems to get in the right areas and has a few quick moves in his arsenal that really work to his advantage. So far he's been very accurate and has been taking his chances. Looks to me like a solid bet for 20-25 goals and a great pick-up for this season, how he will fit long-term I'm not sure. Hopefully our young forwards like MacArthur/Grabovski/Kulemin/Versteeg/Bozak (minus Kessel) can find some chemistry and find long-term roles on this team.

Shouldn't be relying on Orr to score too many go ahead goals.

And some of the other better step up, because Kessle cant carry them all season.
